OK the loss of hearing occurs when you hear very loud noise for a while daily (ipods, Cd's, Music in general)
your ear is just like a drum when noise enters it hits the skin that's stretched over it and that signals to your head. hearing loss happens 2 ways
1.) if your exposed to loud noise daily your stretched skin stretches even more and it wont be able to vibrate as well and your brain wont receive as much signals.
2.) is when your skin rips, cuts, etc. so it wont be able to vibrate at all and this when you are no longer to hear at all from that ear

You might have to simply prevent him from getting to it in the first place. I've known people who have turned around onesies (they do make larger sizes), turning around zip pajamas and running duct tape up the zipper so he can't unzip it.
You may need to shorten nap time and wake him up so he doesn't have time to get into it. Or put a very sensitive monitor in his room and go in as soon as he wakes up.

I think that many hearing people feel awkward when trying to speak with someone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing. It's a thick communication barrier, and many people aren't sure how to deal with it.
If that's not the case, it's sometimes true that hearing people do honestly feel sorry for Deaf people or think that they are inferior; I hate saying that, but it's true that many people look down upon the Deaf/HOH community because they aren't 'normal'.

It looks like the Daily News got it wrong (from checking on other articles on this). It’s not $120 a month. It’s going from $25 a year to $120 a year. It’s a steep jump but that’s because they haven’t done a raise in 10 years. That includes the water and power that the DWP brings to these plots. That breaks down to $10 a month for land including utilities, which is actually a deal. If there are some folks who cannot afford $10 a month, I’d say they’ve probably got bigger problems than whether they can garden or not.

I have used hearing aids for the past seven years. I initially paid $1600.00 for a set of Siemens inner ear digital hearing aids which worked well, but required constant care and tuning by the audiologist. Worse, there was only a 3 year warranty. After that, warranty costs from aftermarket repair facilities are on average $250.00 and up per year. Frustated by the hype and upon learning that the same hearing aid is sold in other countries for as low as $300.00, I started to search for an alternative. During my research I found the Acoustitone PRO that was designed by an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor to be an affordable alternative. I paid $330 from Amazon for a set of two. Overall, they work almost as well as the much more expensive Siemens and other similar types, which are also ridiculously priced. They are FDA registered and Audiologist approved. There are many local organizations that do assist persons with lower incomes in purchasing/obtaining hearing aids. I would recommend contacting your local Lions Club as they are the most prominent in most communities.

You might want to research blogs on hearing aids or Hearing Planets to see if others have had similar experience and what they've done about it. I'm from Texas where nobody can even buy any medical grade equipment for home use. Only licensed qualified health facilities can, to be sure the sellers' items are up to specs and the buyers use them properly. I hate to say it, but on line it's always Buyer Beware!

my mother went to a retail outlet in a mall to replace her hearing aids (one broke, not worth fixing). they ordered her a pair of $3500 hearing aids. she hasn’t paid for them yet. it is a lot of money for her.
