Pass up on any Ebay cheapie style hearing aids , There is a chance that they could do more damage to your hearing !

A visit to an Audiologist is indicated here as they can plot your hearing loss onto an Audiogram & correctly suggest what is the best device to resolve your problem.

Depending on your circumstances you "May" be entitled to Free or Subsidised hearing aids?

An Audiologist can & will point you in the right direction there.

This should be covered by insurance, but there are still many audiologists who are out there that do it for free. Again it varies from person to person. More important is finding a good audiologist to test your hearing.

absolutely safe. Think about all the senior citizens who need both too. No need to choose a steady heart beat over being able to hear. They are totally compatible.

I'm very sorry that some people are ignorant enough to behave in a manner that makes you feel uncomfortable about doing what is necessary to help yourself hear better. That's truly sad, and they are a sorry excuse for humanity. Pay them no attention. You deserve to be a part of this world too, and if wearing hearing aids enriches your life, then wear 'em with pride. Who cares what other people think? Anyone who would think less of you is not worth your time.

I do understand how you feel. The first few times I went out with compression garments on my lower legs, a brace on my left knee and cane in hand, I felt as if the whole world was staring. Perhaps they were, because I looked as if I was heading to the ball field, LOL. :D

Anyway, it became easier each time I ventured from the house. I figured, if they didn't like how I looked, then they could just turn away. Others don't deal with with my level of pain, and these items help me to walk more easily ... just as your hearing aids help you. Only the best to you.

In terms of hearing impairments, about 16 million suffer from these problems and there are 12 million who do not do anything about it, and this shows just how people neglect their ears. The most common ear problems people have are discussed below. Protecting the ear canal from stray particles is ear wax. Instead of being for hygiene there are people with glands that produce more ear wax than necessary which can cause hearing loss. Avoid from removing ear wax by yourself and let the doctor do it for you. For others swimmer's ear becomes a problem. One mild condition is what doctors recognize this external otitis as. In order for this to happen a person should swim in an overcrowded or over chlorinated pool and then fail to dry the ears tho ...
I wear one in each ear, so I can relate. I don't understand either, since they cost more than a computer, and don't do nearly as much! Custom fitting is a simple, inexpensive procedure using plastic; the circuitry is basically the same for all of them; etc.etc. There is no reason for such an expense. By the way I wear two recently purchased CIC models by Starkey, digitals with volume control, and they were only half the cost you cite.
