Exposure to loud music for extended period of time tops the list of noise induced hearing loss.
There are 3 types of hearing loss, categorized by the part of the auditory system that is affected.
Conductive hearing loss occurs when sounds are not properly conducted through the ear. This type of loss is characterized by a general reduction in sound level or the inability to hear faint sounds. It is often caused by a blockage in the ear, such as wax. Other causes can be an ear infection or allergy that stops sounds from traveling properly in the middle ear.
Sensorineural hearing loss occurs when there is damage to the middle ear or the nerve pathways of the ear. Age and exposure to loud noises are some of the factors that contribute to this type of hearing loss.
Mixed hearing loss is a combination of conductive and sensorineural hearing losses, which occurs when there is damage to both the inner and outer ear areas. This type of hearing loss can be prevented.
The degree of hearing loss refers to the thresholds at which soft noises can be heard. There are 5 main categories: normal loss, mild loss, moderate loss, severe loss and profound loss. A hearing test can determine the degree of hearing loss you have.
Here are some tips for preventing hearing loss.
1. Most people turn up the volume on their television or radio in an attempt to drown out other noises. We live in a noisy environment. If you turn up the volume to the extent that you can no longer hear outside noises it is probably too loud. If others can hear the sound from your earbuds or headphones, it means the volume is too high.
2. Ear bud headphones have been found to be more damaging than over-the-ear style headphone. Ear buds creates more impact as they are closer to the inner ear. The advantage of over-the-ear style headphones is that they have noise cancellation that eliminates background noise without having to turn up the volume.
3. Reduce exposure time to loud noises. This includes all types of noise such as lawn mowers, food mixers, hair dryer and the like.
4. Use ear protection such as ear plugs or ear muffs wherever exposed to dangerous noise levels, be it at home, at work and at play.
5. As a parent, teach your child to listen to music or television at a safe level.

No, you can never take a deduction for a loss on the sale of a personal residence, even to offset the gain on the sale of a rental property.
Had you converted your personal residence to a rental unit you could have used that loss to offset the gain on the other rental. If the loss was enough to wipe out the gain on the sale of the rental, some of the additional loss could have been claimed against your other income with the balance of the loss carried forward to future tax years.
An even better approach (if feasible for you) might have been to move in to the rental for 2 years and rent out your former principal residence and then sell them both. You'd have a recapture of the depreciation claimed on the former rental but that probably would not have been enough to put you over the exclusion amount on the sale of a principal residence and you might have been able to take at least a partial loss on the sale of your former principal residence. Even if you couldn't take the entire loss in the year of the sale you usually can carry forward the loss to future tax years.
Unfortunately it's now too late for either of those tax-saving options.

since ending abortions will only do more harm to women than good, i would choose the tree. not because the tree has feelings, but because cutting down trees does more harm to the environment than good.
those conservative morons who are claiming libs don't care about babies or humans, you couldn't be anymore ignorant. of course i care about infants and humans. i also know that a fetus is not an infant and a woman should be able to choose when or if she brings another life into the world. consent to sex IS NOT consent to motherhood and sex is not a crime.

Remember when “how to build sticky websites” articles were everywhere? Well, the goals for Facebook are different, and you risk being disappointed with your social marketing investment if you don’t understand this new paradigm. Luckily for all of the social marketers, a Facebook “like” is inherently sticky. It is a persistent relationship you can capitalize on with smart social marketing. Let’s start with some definitions. A website is “sticky” when visitors stay on the same site for an extended period of time. They navigate around the site, clicking on links to other pages, tabs, or sections. It’s measured in minutes and average page visits per visitor. Your Facebook presence, on the other hand, is not measured by clicks, but rather by fan count (and therefore potential impressions), “likes,” and shares. The social paradigm for your Facebook presence isn’t to get fans to come to your Facebook page — it’s to get them to be social. Stay connected. For more insights into the latest…

Then you don't understand the physics.
Actually all three laws can be lumped into one physics characteristic… the change in momentum, dP, which is called impulse. Here's how.
Impulse is dP = m dV = F dt; where m is your head as you sit in the car seat, dV = V1 – V0 is the change in speed of your body as your car gets rear ended with a force F for an impact interval dt seconds. V0 is your head and body moving along at, say, 44 fps (30 mph), as you drive through a residential area. V1 is the new, faster speed V1 > V0 because your car gets pushed from behind with that force F.
Now here's the deal. Your head is up in the air while your body is snug against the seat pan and back when you get rear ended. So your head, when the crash occurs, wants to continue on at V0 (Newton's First) while your body is pushed faster to V1 (Newton's Second). What happens? Your head slams backward (actually it's your car slamming forward, but it's all realtive).
If there is nothing behind your head (i.e., no headrest), there is nothing to stop it from slamming backward except your neck muscles and bones. Whiplash as your bones are cracked and your muscles are strained while stopping your head from flying off your shoulders.
But with that headrest, your backward flying head is cushioned upon impact and brought to a stop so that the backward force is offset by the reaction force of the headrest. And there you have balanced equal but opposite forces on your head while you try to get the car under control and brought to a stop (Newton's Third).
And there you are… all three laws, using impulse as the central theme and the physics.

I write a lot about preventing mania in all of my books. How about some unconventional ideas! 1. Skip the energy drinks. It’s not that the energy drinks are bad for you because they directly cause mania. They don’t. But they can 100% affect your sleep. Messing up your sleep pattern is one of the top causes of mood swings. (Others include getting drunk, high, etc and finally working swing shift.) Who thought a little can would cause so much trouble! I know some people who drink them all day and jump around like a rabbit. Who wants that feeling. The other night I was watching UFC with my brother at a bar. (It ends early! and I tend not to drink unless I’m manic.) Anyway, the woman next to me ordered her second cran and red bull. I thought- there is no way you could get me to drink that. I’d fly through the roof! Here is what she [ Read More ] Related posts: Well, I’m manic part 2 Newsletter: Mania, hypomania, euphoric mania, dysphoric mania- my plea to you! Mania is selfish
