A life in bloom
A flame was lit when Malcolm Brown discovered James Joyce’s Ulysses four decades ago. It still burns brightly.

Hold me close and hold me fast
    The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose

When you kiss me heaven sighs
And tho I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose

When you press me to your heart
    I’m in a world apart
    A world where roses bloom

And when you speak…angels sing from above
Everyday words seem…to turn into love songs

Give your heart and soul to me
    And life will always be
    La vie en rose

My first symptom of cirrhosis for me was a swollen stomach. I had no other symptoms. It turned out my liver was functioning at only 10%. I had no jaundice. The doctors gave me an estimate of 5 years before total failure would occur and told me I would need a transplant in order to stay alive.

Three years later I had my transplant done. The transplant surgeon told me after viewing my actual liver that I would have only lived another year or a little longer at best with my cirrhotic liver, so the estimate was pretty accurate. He also said that the time I would have left would not be very good, that I would be very sick. My cirrhosis was caused by an autoimmune disease.

If your family member has had a biopsy, that should tell them a lot about how much damage has been done which will give them the ability to give a time frame. It would just be an estimate since there are a lot of factors that come into play in determining how long a person will be able to stay alive. I hope your family member will be able to get a transplant should they need one. It saved my life.

Jupiter's moon Europa orbits quite closely to an imense planet with unbelievable gravity.
As the moon itself rotates within the gravity well, the nearer side is pulled on slightly harder than the further side. This causes what planetologists call "Tidal Stretching". This effect causes a normaly very cold body to have a great deal of internal friction causing what they refer to as "Tidal Heating" at the moon's core.
We know from the pictures sent back by the Galileo orbiter, Europa has a liquid ocean under it's frozen surface. The fracturing and resurfacing of Europa's surface is ongoing.
Since we know it's composition to be mostly water ice,it's easy to assume that the liquid close to the core could indeed harbor life. Much like the life we have discovered in the deep oceans near volcanic vents on Earth, planetologists tag Europa as a prime candidate for ET life forms to arise.

Life is NO THING appearing as something. Words are just silence sounding. All there is is silence and space. Everything else arises and falls within that space. The only thing that is Indestructible is space. Yet that is what we ignore. In truth we cannot know space. Because that is what we are. No author. No chance. No anything. Just everything arising out of NO THING and departing back into NO THING just like your next thought. You are certain that you are thinking. But in truth all there is is thinking..

Just keep it alive – water, mild fertilizer and light. It will re-bloom. Plants go through their natural cycles indoors just as they would in nature. I have a house full of plants that many people throw away after their first bloom (azaleas, poinsettias etc.) and they're beautiful.

Yuck have spoken about their influences ahead of an upcoming batch of British tour dates. For those who were there, the rock scene in the 90s was a collision of plaid shirts, greasy hair and Dr Martins. However recently a new generation have emerged, citing the decade as a formative influence. Formed from the wreckage of Cajun Dance Party, Yuck have a fetish for all things early 90s. One listen to their album reveals the ghost of J Mascis, writhing within the confines of a vintage fuzz pedal. Speaking to The Guardian, the band talked about moving beyond the confines of Cajun Dance Party. “There’s something incredible about discovering music that becomes your own” explains Max Bloom. Listing a number of influences, the guitarist said: “Those albums connected with me way more than anything I’ve ever heard. Some albums change your way of thinking about music, playing, writing – your whole attitude changes overnight.” Currently in the United States, Yuck are completing a series of tour…

depends on what type but also on what part of Texas you are in/climate…but like u said, a general answer..this site says they start late April:

^you can put a rose float in the parade. or donate plants to the park/museum.

how to grow roses in Texas:

texas extension system; to get local spray schedules/local pest or disease problems/maybe soil stats/tests for or ID's of things maybe/etc etc varies by state:

    hardiness zones:

average temps<<this is the thing that will really determine when ur roses bloom. and ur area will be different from anyone elses, due to big factors but also small ones like slope of land, sun exposure, mulch depth and whatever:

    texas garden forums and such:

i removed the links i have already looked at and think less worthy for various reasons. at least the first couple of pages are good.

    general garden forums, non-texas:

    a US, nationally sponsored non-profit

a nice non-commercial place, they seem to like flowers

poor kid…a week and only one answer<<why u got linked up.

my best rose tips>>water as soon as you see the buds forming or they may not open.

rinse off aphids on tips of unopened rosebuds or they may not open<this only happens in some areas, not everyone gets aphids; but after rinsing you have to knock them down the next day too and keep at it for a week.

do not crowd a rose bush into a humid spot or it can get blackspot. they like a few feet of air around them.

last, if u want continual blooms, u have to cut off the fully opened flower AS SOON as it fully opens. i do not mean you cannot leave it on the plant to enjoy for the day, but the next day u have to cut it down to the next healthy node. <make that pruning cut according to rose pruning texts, like that certain diagonal way close to a branch that has 3 – 5 leaves on it.

ornamental grasses is a great idea. Remember, the point is to leave them up even when they have gone dormant. Don't cut them down until spring. The tall blades wave in the wind, glisten in the rain and ice. Only down side is in heavy ice or snow they may bend over and you may be tempted to cut them back, but give them a chance to spring back up.

Check your local gardening association or native plant society and be sure to select species that will not be invasive (miscanthus is one that can escape cultivation and is becoming a problem)

also, try some evergreen ground covers – i am in zone 6 US here are ones I would try : Xmas fern; wood fern; allegheny spurge, heuchera americana, ……

Try to remember that even shades of brown can hold a lot of interest and keep an eye out for birds eating dried seed heads, insects, etc. A dormant garden still holds lots of life you if know what to look for!

No, it is not a good idea. Between 90% and 100% of those who enter this field fail at it and have to leave within one year. Between 0% and 10% stay for at least one year, and it is not clear how many of those actually make money during that year and how many stay in the field without making money. However, "risky" implies a substantial amount of uncertainty. Since failure is virtually certain, it is not really risky, in the same way that beheading yourself does not involve an element of risk, because the outcome is already known.
