I do not know how to answer this from personal experience, but my cousin wears hearing aids and eyeglasses. She chose a light wire frame when she wears her eyeglasses, but uses contact lenses most of the time. I am not sure if contacts are an option for you, but you may want to consider it. If you can wear hearing aids that are not behind the ear, that may be another option for you as well.

You cant afford a doc eh? I recommend some home remedies my great Uncle Al did.
Take 1 tbl spoon of cinnamon and 8 oz of milk. Let it sit outside in the sun for 24 hours (1day). Then put the moisture on your cotton swab and place in your ear for 2 days straight, 3 times a day. The cinnamon creates a scratchy substance when its churned in the sun by the milk. This substance will release particles like vics vapor rub would for your nose.
Another home remedy would be to apply ben gay around your ear, but not totally in your ear. Leave and let it sit for 30mins, then place some inside your ear. It has the same effect as above but works faster.

There are many local organizations that do assist persons with lower incomes in purchasing/obtaining hearing aids. I would recommend contacting your local Lions Club as they are the most prominent in most communities.
Also Healthy Hearing is an online consumer resource for persons with hearing loss and who wear hearing aids. They provide free consumer guides – one which is a comprehensive funding guide broken down by state and national organizations that assist persons in purchasing hearing aids. You might remember that we’d said back in April that AT&T would be picking up the Sony Ericsson X10 in the 30th week of the year. Well, turns out we weren’t exactly right, but it seems we’re going to end up being pretty damn close. We’re hearing that AT&T is lining up for a launch some time between the middle of August and the middle of September; smartphone data is required, of course, and it’ll cost independent dealers $345 per unit (retail pricing is anyone’s guess). Also launching in the same timeframe will be the Samsung Eternity II, a device BGR had mentioned back in June. No details on this one, but we’d assume it’ll be a slicker, higher-spec follow-on to the original Eternity from way back in ’08. Sadly, there’s no indication these X10s will have anything other than the dusty Android 1.6-based platform they’ve been running everywhere since their global launch, so get ready to travel back in time if you end up cross-shopping this with the Captivate. There could be a number of possibilities going on such as endometriosis (just using endometriosis as an example only) but the only way to know for sure what is going on is to see your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.

I know what you mean, what I have done is my hearing aid has an FM reciever and I can use my hearing aids and what ever my professors say I hear right in my hearing aids with out the added background noise. It is awesome and has helped me so much since I have been in college.

What a load of crap. Very un-imformative information about hearing aids. The people that sell hearing aids for a living are better versed to properly fit a hearing aid over a doctor. Doctors spend more time treating ear illnesses then learning the process to fit a hearing aid properly. Doctors are a business also. they see hundreds of people a week treating people because it takes up to six+ months to get paid from the insurance. Its not like that automatically makes them more qualified.

If they really want to improve the quality of the sets, improve and standardise the broadcast of the sound. There are millions of people who are hard of hearing and wear hearing aids. The number one complaint I hear from my patients is that they can not understand what is being said on TV and since the standards are poor, as they go from one program to another and from program to commercial they have to constantly adust the aids and the volume of the tv. And as a hearing aid specialist, there is little I can do to help them.
