My advisor is a forensic anthropologist (I am a bioarchaeologist).
The downsides of the job:
1) A lot of education is required (a Ph.D., plan on at least 12 years of college).
2) You will never make much money, and job security is limited. You will have to travel extensively (which is also a bonus, but most of the anthropolgists I know have been separated from their spouses/children for years at a time).
3) There is a GLUT of forensic anthropologists at the moment. Between 50 and 200 (qualified Ph.D.) candidates apply for each position, and it's only getting worse.
The advantages:
It's interesting. It's challenging. It's DEFINITELY not a 9-5 job If you genuinely have a passion for it, the disadvantages can be worth it.

You cannot carry anything larger than .45 caliber. Private property can be posted, but the signs do not have any legal weight behind them. Also, you must keep your gun concealed, as open carry is illegal and inform law enforcement if you are contacted and have a concealed handgun.

There's a helluva lot of red tape involved – and of course, fees.
You must prove to the Police that you are a "Fit and Proper" person, which means; no convictions, good character and referees who can attest to that.
Then you fill in the form.
Of course you must have a drivers licence, before you get your passenger service (passenger) licence.
You must demonstrate that you know all the law, all the geography of the area in which you intend to work, and can handle a vehicle with precision.
It may take 6 months.
If you are the owner of the vehicle being used, your must hold a passenger service (vehicle) licence too.
These vehicles are subject to very strict and rigid engineering and safety standards called a CoF. The dimensions between seats, between the floor and the seat, between the roof and the seat, between the seat and the side walls are all carefully measured to the millimetre. The brake drums or discs are taken off the vehicle and checked for wear. There must be a light or a buzzer on the dashboard that activates if a door is open. plenty more things as well.
The best way is to buy a vehicle already CoFd, rather than the usual WoF. Buy an ex rental or someone elses CoFd vehicle if you are buying second hand. Check with a new vehicle, as some can not be CoFd off the shelf, and modifications to them to bring them to the required standard may not be possible.
Check what vehicles are already certified.
Drive a shuttle is my advice, the work is alot easier and less stressful as you rarely have to deal with drunks and louts.
The difference between a taxi and a shuttle is that taxis have a point to point fare worked off a meter; shuttles have zonal fares – usually a price for the first person and then so much per head for each other person on the same trip going to the same address.
A taxi is an exclusive ride unless the first hirer gives the driver permission to take on extra passengers heading in the same direction; a shuttle ride is shared, unless the first person on pays a charge for the ride of a sum equivalent to what the driver would collect if the vehicle was full.
Most taxi or shuttle drivers can make a reasonable living, but you have to move in the the field of chauffeur before you start earning an above-average wage.
I'm not sure, but I think you have to be a New Zealand citizen.
Best of luck!

University of South Alabama in Mobile has an awesome program. Depends on what YOUR criteria is; in so far as what are you looking for in a university? My daughter is completing her 4th year and is encountering problems locating an externship site. I would ask what the school's policy/duty is in helping students find externships. USA in Mobile has dropped the ball on that aspect.

These subtitles are extremely subjectively interpreted… it gives only the most basic gist of everything they are saying, and even somethings they are not saying. Perhaps for the purpose of pragmatism in reading subtitles, but you really do miss a lot by this kind of simplified interpretation.

That is actually a few more years than just 2 after med school as that would be a fellowship on top of a general residency (so more like 5+ years). ANd no one wants to be seen by some one "fast tracked" through med school. Med school is 4 years because there is too much to learn. Don't want you to miss out on something critical.

Do you hit your fiance, or your co-workers, or your parents, or your friends, if they do something naughty? Well, then why in the world would it be okay to hit your children? Violence (hitting is a violent behavior) is not the answer for anybody, including kids. There are better ways. Please don't take the easy way out, take parenting classes if you have to, but please don't hit your kids.

The House of Reps wound down its week by voting to make the Ryan plan its official policy. The vote was 235-193. Four Republicans voted against, one of whom was Texas libertarian Ron Paul. More importantly, I report with some pleasure and relief that not a single Democrat voted for it. That’s an unusual unanimity. Not even Dan Boren of Oklahoma, or Mike Ross of Arkansas, or Heath Shuler of North Carolina, to name three moderates who very often vote with the Reps. So now it’s teed up. The R’s can’t even say one Democrat is with them. Fox can’t even find that one lonely Democrat to come on their air and prostitute himself. In this war, there’s no Lieberman. In fact, things were almost a lot more interesting than even this. There’s another plan from a right-wing group within the House GOP (imagine that!) called the Republican Study Committee. Their plan, which raises the Social Security eligibility age to 70, makes Ryan’s look kind of nice. It came up for a routine vote. I’ll let TPM…

Unfortunately yes. If they decided to call the police and make a hassle yes. However…there is something he could do to stop this. He could file for emancipation since he has an address. If he has a job or a way to prove he can provide for himself a Judge would not send him back. As a Psychologist I can also tell you that a Judge is going to ask the guy where he wants to be and why and then will make his decision more than likely. I would suggest that he go to Department of Family Services and explain why he is where is if the family continues to complain and says they are going to call the police. They will be able to help him. There is no reason for him to return if he is 17. Good luck. (I live in Oklahoma)
