“Well, I’m an abridger, so I’m entitled to a few ideas of my own. Did they make it? Was the pirate ship there? You can answer it for yourself, but, for me, I say yes it was. And yes, they got away. And got their strength back and had lots of adventures and more than their share of laughs.
But that doesn’t mean I think they had a happy ending, either. Because, in my opinion, anyway, they squabbled a lot, and Buttercup lost her looks eventually, and one day Fezzik lost a fight and some hot-shot kid whipped Inigo with a sword and Westley was never able to really sleep sound because of Humperdinck maybe being on the trail.
I’m not trying to make this a downer, understand. I mean, I really do think that love is the best thing in the world, next to cough drops. But I also have to say, for the umpty-umpth time, that life isn’t fair. It’s just fairer than death, that’s all.”

You shouldn't have a problem passing the test.
Even if you were completely deaf in one ear, you could pass.
If you can hear the doctor speaking to you at 6 feet, with your back turned, using BOTH ears, you will pass.
This is the primary test for the FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate. (and 2&3 as well)
If you fail the test, you can elect to have an audiometric test done.
Here are the actual requirements:
"Demonstrate hearing of an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using both ears at 6 feet, with the back turned to the examiner OR pass one of the audiometric tests below :
Audiometric speech discrimination test: (Score at least 70% discrimination in one ear) or:
Pure tone audiometric test: Unaided, with thresholds no worse than:
500Hz 1,000Hz 2,000Hz 3,000Hz
Better Ear 35Db 30Db 30Db 40Db
Worst Ear 35Db 50Db 50Db 60Db"

Noise exposure over 90 dBA for over 8 hours is enough to begin to damage your outer hair cells in your cochlea. Over time that damage will become cumulative and permanent and result in loss from the 2-6 kHz range (higher pitched sounds). Impact/impulse noise can cause immediate hearing loss if it is sufficiently loud.
If people have to shout over the noise to be heard, its probably too loud to spend extended lengths of time in that environment without suffering a temporary hearing loss. If you're in doubt you're better off wearing ear plugs.

Why not tell people that even “digital” hearing aids do not help with speech understanding! If the amplified sound passes through a damaged cochlear it doesn’t matter how you manipulate the digitial signal processing or filters. This flick is misleading and no better than a typical ad from Beltone..
