Seen here about to get creamed by a bus because they're too f***ing slow, a couple demonstrate their AGNES (Age Gain Now Empathy System) suits, which make them move and feel like crotchety 75-year olds. *waving cane* Kids these days, I...just shat myself again. When you put AGNES on, it starts messing with more or less everything it can possibly mess with to simulate being old. For example, braces and bands and straps attach to all of your limbs, putting additional pressure on your joints to simulate joint stiffness, increased muscular fatigue, and slowed movements while making it harder to take large steps or raise your arms above your head. Earplugs and goggles simulate poor eyesight and hearing loss. You even put on special shoes that make you feel almost off-balance all the time. The concept is that people designing products for old people will be able to better understand the geriatric demographic by actually experiencing what they do. Walking a mile in their orthopedic shoes, if...

People love their family and it is unquestionable if they will do something to make their family in greater comfort and enjoyment. For those individuals with family member with hearing problems, it will be a great opportunity for this member to have an alternative to hear even in the slightest pitch. The hearings aids are one invention that makes the opportunity obtainable. The device electronically equipped the deaf person so it can hear. Depending on the person nature of deafness, the item will more or less provide interception of surrounding sounds and convert it to signals that the mind can recognize as sounds. There are lots of inexpensive hearing aids spread out in the market. The internet is also flowing with inexpensive hearing aids ...inexpensive hearing aids

Congressman Green giving credit for growth of the middle class to government institutions is insane! The man thinks government created the middle class? No! Take a look at Microsoft. It was a small free market company in the 1970s with about a dozen employees. Today it employs hundreds of thousands, not to mention creates products like the Xbox that the middle class love. THAT IS HOW YOU EXPAND MIDDLE CLASS! Free market entrepreneurs expand the middle class. Nothing else will.

As a clarinet player myself, to play it successfully one has to hear the tone well. Clarinets are very finicky and the slightest change can throw off your tone and you need to be able to hear it. Sometimes - depending on how much brass there is in the band - it can drown out clarinets - so she'll have trouble hearing herself play, I bet.

I'd try a steamy hot shower and a good dose of some type sinus medication. My kid went to the doctor yesterday with very similar symptoms and that's what they diagnosed for her. The pollen count is so high (here anyway) that people not normally bothered are having major problems with it. Good luck.

* the drainage backs up and fills your sinus cavities badly when you sleep which can cause major ear pain.

Hi, I'm an Audiologist.

Miracle Ear is a company that manufactures hearing aids and has a chain of franchise dispensaries that deal with their product exclusively.

As far as the technology of their devices goes, they are fairly compatible with other brands. However, they tend to charge more, as they need to recoup the money for their advertising.

I've had several patients that have had bad experiences with Miracle Ear products and Dispensers. But then again, if they were happy, they wouldn't be coming to see us. Still, it is an important investment she is making, and she needs to not only consider the cost and convenience, but also the service and professional support she will receive.

I strongly recommend that she consult a few Audiologists rather than Hearing Aid Dispensers in the area, to shop around for the product and service. Especially if she has never worn hearing aids before, it is important that she fully understand the options available to her; and to have someone that will explain to her what to expect, how to adapt to hearing all the sounds she's been missing, and how to get the most from her investment. For example, if both of her ears hear about equally, she would do much better if she had amplification for both ears.

No matter where she purchases, she should get a trial period that is AT LEAST 30 days long, during which she has the option to return the aid(s) with no questions asked (most places do have some portion of the cost that is not refunded). Make sure she goes in for at least one follow-up visit during that trial period and that she gets all her questions answered promptly and professionally.

If at all possible, have someone accompany her to these visits -- it's a lot of information, and the some of my patients can seem intimidated by the process. Unfortunately, some seniors can be easily influenced or will simply just want to keep it simple and just stay with the first person they talk to. She's spending a lot of money and these devices need to help her for the next five years or so -- it's better not to make a hasty decision.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to click on my name/avatar and the on Contact hearkat and send me a note.

Absolutely the best, if you are evaluated as an appropriate subject, is the cochlear implant. You need to read up on it, and it is a surgical implant, but it is what they use nowadays for even little children with profound hearing loss.

You shouldn't have a problem passing the test.
Even if you were completely deaf in one ear, you could pass.

If you can hear the doctor speaking to you at 6 feet, with your back turned, using BOTH ears, you will pass.

This is the primary test for the FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate. (and 2&3 as well)

If you fail the test, you can elect to have an audiometric test done.

Here are the actual requirements:

"Demonstrate hearing of an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using both ears at 6 feet, with the back turned to the examiner OR pass one of the audiometric tests below :

Audiometric speech discrimination test: (Score at least 70% discrimination in one ear) or:

Pure tone audiometric test: Unaided, with thresholds no worse than:
                                             500Hz 1,000Hz 2,000Hz 3,000Hz
                      Better Ear 35Db 30Db 30Db 40Db
                      Worst Ear 35Db 50Db 50Db 60Db"

You might have to simply prevent him from getting to it in the first place. I've known people who have turned around onesies (they do make larger sizes), turning around zip pajamas and running duct tape up the zipper so he can't unzip it.

You may need to shorten nap time and wake him up so he doesn't have time to get into it. Or put a very sensitive monitor in his room and go in as soon as he wakes up.

Chin up. I can only imagine how frustrating this is for you.

It depends on your personal needs. Talk with your audiologist to discuss different situations where you will wear your new hearing aids and they can help you figure out which ones will best match your price range and your lifestyle. I have a GN ResoundAir digital BTE and I LOVE it. Its all about you and your needs. work with your audi and see what will work best for you! :D

Since this video aired, Otologics will now be offering the implantable hearing aid free to people since it is still in it's clinical trials. For more information or to volunteer for the trial, call 1-866-394-7320.

Contact your local Sertoma Club, a wonderful non-profit organization that's focus is on Speech & Hearing. Perhaps thru Chamber of Commerce would have a contact name. My club has paid for hearing aids & TDY machines for those in need in our own community. Also provided the local hospital with the new equipment to test new born babies hearing. Budgets are being set now. Contact a member in Sertoma & tell them of your plight.
Sertoma - Service to Mankind
Can't hurt to ask ! Good Luck and God Bless you!
