You need some kind of picture editing program to fix this. If you have Microsoft Office 2003 or later, you should have something like Picture Manager which can help you resize or crop the picture to the correct shape and size for your screen. Then, when you center, it will look right.

If you don't have any picture editor, then download (free) Picasa from Google. It will help you organize your pictures as well as crop and resize.

Check your screen resolution to find out what the size of the picture should be, for example possibly 800×600. Sometimes you can find out screen resolution from the monitor itself if you enter its menu (with the buttons on the front) and look at the Info option. Otherwise, you can check it from Display Properties under Control Panel.

'a' is the point or neighbourhood that will give the best approximation to f(x) as you successively add to the power series (called the 'centre of convergence'.). So for example, if we were to write out the Taylor series for sin x centred on x = 0, we'd get

    sin x = x – x^3/3! + x^5/5! – x^7/7! + …

If we graph sin x, then overlay successive partial sums (first x, then x-x^3/3!, then x-x^3/3!+x^5/5! etc) then you would see that at the point x=0, the power series exactly matches sin x; and as we add more and more terms the region that the polynomial closely approximates sin x 'spreads out', but always centred on x = 0. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think in this case if we take the power series up to the x^7 or x^9 terms, we find the polynomial approximates sin x exactly over one full period – centred on x = 0. The equivalent series for centring on x = a is of course

    sin x = (x – a) – (x – a)^3/3! – (x – a)^5/5! + …

which matches sin x well about the point x = a.

It means you're writing it as a series whose nth term is a constant * (x-n)^n.

(Well, actually, that's the n+1st term, since you start with a term for n = 0).

Sharp Electronics today announced that it has been chosen to provide a “countdown clock” from the upcoming 9/11 Memorial and Museum set to open at the World Trade Center site on September 11, 2011–the tenth anniversary of the attacks.

The company’s CEO Kozo Takahashi will join the museum’s president Joe Daniels and New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg for tomorrow morning’s unveiling at the 9/11 Memorial preview site.

The clock will be embedded into a 13 by seven foot video wall made up of nine Sharp LCDs, which will both count down the time until the memorial opens and feature renderings of what the site will look like finished.

Saying you heard something and proving you heard something are still two very different items. Funny how I can easily find video of idiotic, racist NAACP members (ah, that lady who worked with the Agricultural Dept. is priceless), but your claim comes down to hearsay. I'll believe the video tape. You believe as you wish. There are no direct laws against hyperbole or delusion. With all the cell phones out there, the best you can do is break out the "he said, she said" routine? Weak.
I am quite certain there are racists in the Tea Party… and in the churches I've attended, in the current presidential administration and in the NAACP. What matters is when they can be clearly exposed. When you provide the link to a recording of a racist Tea Party member, I'll join you in deriding him/her. 'Til then, the "I believe it to be true so they ALL must be racists… or deaf" routine is a lazy logic argument.
Addendum: I recant with my example. It appears the video was out of context, but the lady still got hosed by (oddly enough) the current administration. However, there are still plenty of New Black Panther hijinx and Jeremiah Wright tirades out there to let me know that the race baiters and perpetual victims are not to be trusted. Hell, they could learn from this lady's story. It's called progress. And the challenge to see verifiable Tea Party shennannigans still stands.

Better Business Bureau is a good idea but something needs to be done now so he can hear.

Was the hearing aid originally purchased at Beltone?
Do you know exactly how it was lost? In the office? During shipping to and from the manufacture?

If it was not a Beltone hearing aid, then Beltone will probably not be able to replace the aid. If it was lost during shipping then there is insurance automatically placed on the aid by the manufactuer and they will gladly replace the aid. If the repair charge was only $55 then it may not have needed to be sent away. My office charges $30 for repair in house and $250 if they need to be sent for repair (which includes a one-year warranty). If it was lost in the office and they're treating you like this then you're probably SOL. You could ask if they have a loaner aid until they can find his. It is illegal to sell used hearing aids so they may have something on hand they will call "Loaner aid" and I would expect to pay for the cost of the repair.

There may be other options. If his insurance covers hearing aids then he may be eligable for new ones. Most insurances don't though. If he is struggling financially then there are ogranizations like the Lions Club and the Starkey Foundation that offer BIG discounts. If he is a veteran then the VA hospital may be able to help. And if he can afford it then I would take him someplace different. Look for an Ear, Nose & Throat Physician with an Audiologist on staff. Avoid those big name-brand chain stores. You can get a pair of basic hearing aids for around $2000. If he has the funds then it's worth it to have hearing. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to live in a nursing home, then take away your hearing and ability to communicate – it must be terribly frustrating for him.

What are the signs of spring? They are as familiar as a blooming Daffodil, a songbird at dawn, a surprising shaft of warmth from the afternoon sun. And, oh yes, don’t forget the meteors. “Spring is fireball season,” says Bill Cooke of NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Center. “For reasons we don’t fully understand, the rate of bright meteors climbs during the weeks around the vernal equinox.”

Different kinds of hearing loss need different kinds of hearing aids. You'll need a full evaluation. My father loves his, and the Costco audiologist told him that the store is selling hearing aids at a loss because they want to bring people into the store. They're not cheap, but they're worth it.
