I change one of my pupil`s hearing aid battery every 10 days … sometimes the battery doesn`t need changing .. but the hearing aid needs taking apart and cleaning … they clog up easily … Mmm !

If you need new hearing aids to hold a job, the vocational rehabilitation department for your state is a good place to start. There are also several sources that will donate used hearing aids to individuals (such as the Starkey Foundation)

It sounds like your hearing aids need some adjustments done. Mine were like that when I first got them (I got my latest pair about a year ago…they are also Seimens). I went back to my audiologist a couple of times for fine tuning and now they are fine.
However, I have been deaf since birth and what I have is normal to me. I can enjoy music at low volume or if I'm alone in my car, I take my hearing aids out and listen to my music a little louder. As for TV, I use closed captioning. Going to movies, however…well, that's a different story. Since no theatre in my area provides services for the deaf, I end up waiting for movies to come out on DVD and watching them at home.
Telling you to "get used to it" it wrong. Maybe you should find another audiologist. Any good one would know that hearing aids are not perfectly tuned right from the start. Many times, a little tinkering with the settings can get you to where you need and want to be. Good luck.

Noise induced damage- or a temporary threshold shift (TTS) is something that comes back on it's own without you doing anything. Since continuous damage continues to occur up to a month after the exposure due to free radicals created in your inner ears, the anti-oxidents would work to prevent more permanent damage (PTS) but would probably have little influence on the temporary hearing loss.
So go ahead- eat foods high in anti-oxidents… you may be helping yourself in the long run.

Usually if you have inner ear damage you will also have hearing loss. But if your question is about getting into the Marines, then trust your audiologist. The Marines will give you the same kind of "push the button when you hear the beep" test and if you're in the normal range you pass. Inner ear problems can affect your balance, but that's not what they're testing for.

You shouldn't have a problem passing the test.
Even if you were completely deaf in one ear, you could pass.
If you can hear the doctor speaking to you at 6 feet, with your back turned, using BOTH ears, you will pass.
This is the primary test for the FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate. (and 2&3 as well)
If you fail the test, you can elect to have an audiometric test done.
Here are the actual requirements:
"Demonstrate hearing of an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using both ears at 6 feet, with the back turned to the examiner OR pass one of the audiometric tests below :

In my experience, after having used hearing aids for ten plus years, I have found name brand batteries like Rayovac or Duracell to be the longest lasting batteries. I tried out a few really cheap brands for a while like icelltec, but noticed i would get duds and batteries that only lasted two or three days. I get my batteries online now from Cheap Hearing Aid Batteries Canada but feel free to research around for the best prices online. It's nice because you just receive the batteries in the mail.
