I think that many hearing people feel awkward when trying to speak with someone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing. It's a thick communication barrier, and many people aren't sure how to deal with it.
If that's not the case, it's sometimes true that hearing people do honestly feel sorry for Deaf people or think that they are inferior; I hate saying that, but it's true that many people look down upon the Deaf/HOH community because they aren't 'normal'.

There are much poorer countries. Now onto American health care. The access to health care in other rich countries is undoubtedly better. But the overall healthcare in the US is far better. Medicare and Medicaid are there as band aids and sure they aren’t perfect. When it gets to the point of an emergency the ‘poor’ in the US can always go to the hospital and they cannot be denied treatment. This does increase the overall cost of healthcare. The US system isn’t perfect but it is a damned good one. The US isn’t really third world. That’s crazy talk.”

buck up and get your self some hearing aids. if you have a high frequency loss. make sure they have directional microphones and at the very least 8 channels so the audiologist has greater programming ease.
