Going Gray: Gray supporters argue for a more accessible mayor
Feature Story:There’s no question that the Vince Gray for Mayor campaign has been picking up steam. From straw polls to multiple unions to – most importantly in the LGBT community – the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club, the city’s largest gay political group, Council Chair Vincent Gray has been racking up the wins and endorsements. Jeffrey D. Richardson, the president of the Stein Democrats, sits …

“What’s eating the indies? Well, I have to imagine that a large part of it is that the boldness that attracted them to the Obama campaign has only shown itself in fits and starts since. And so, they drift away. Part of what amuses me in this whole situation is that the White House has obviously felt this criticism, but they’ve assigned it to the wrong people. It’s a great way of potentially alienating yourself to both groups without substantively addressing the criticisms of either. At any rate, November is just a few weeks away. So, laugh it up while you still can!”

Did Microsoft’s departing Chief Software Architect just call the end of the Windows franchise? Not exactly, but Ray Ozzie’s late-night memo to Microsoft employees and executives contained some statements that ought to terrify them. Or at least spur them to action. The thrust is that we’re entering a post-PC world in which the type of device, and the operating system that runs it, won’t matter. Instead, the computing world will be driven by always-on services that are accessible from simple appliance-like devices. If he’s right, those devices won’t have to run Windows. And given that Windows is still Microsoft’s largest and most profitable business–it earned $13 billion in profits on $18.5 billion in sales in the year ended June 30–that ought to raise alarms. The memo itself is worth reading if you care about Microsoft or its products. But it’s also 3,400 words long, which is a lot to ask of employees on their lunch breaks. So I’ve taken the liberty of interpreting some of the…

More than a quarter of a million protesters against public sector cuts are expected to flood central London today in the biggest political demonstration for nearly a decade. Police sources, normally cautious about estimating numbers, said last night they were braced for up to 300,000 people to join the march – far higher than previous forecasts from TUC organisers. More than 800 coaches and at least 10 trains have been chartered to bring people to the capital from as far afield as Cornwall and Inverness. The Metropolitan police, under fire for their use of kettling in previous protests, said “a small but significant minority” plan to hijack the march to stage violent attacks. Organisers, however, insist it will be a peaceful family event. Union members are expected be joined by a broad coalition, from pensioners to doctors, families and first-time protesters to football supporters and anarchists. Ed Miliband said the government was dragging the country back to the “rotten” 1980s….

Accurate photodissociation cross sections have been obtained for the A-X electronic transition of HeH+ using ab initio potential curves and dipole transition moments. Partial cross sections have been evaluated for all rotational transitions from the vibrational levels v”=0-11 and over the entire accessible wavelength range 100-1129 Angstrom. Assuming a Boltzmann distribution of the rovibrational levels of the X state, photodissociation cross sections are presented for temperatures between 500 and 12,000 K. A similar set of calculations was performed for the pure rovibrational photodissociation in the X-X electronic ground state, but covering photon wavelengths into the far infrared. Applications of the cross sections to the destruction of HeH+in the early Universe and in UV-irradiated environments such as primordial halos and protoplanetary disks are briefly discussed.

Well it depends, what if you are 60 70, or older and have many medical problems ? I don't think making senior citizens work especially at there age, is considered a good thing. They earned their right to retire and live on welfare/ social security. Because they have done paid there taxes and increased there credit to where retirement could happen and they wouldn't have to work ever again. Simple as that, they have done there job and paid there taxes. It wouldn't be fair to force them out of retirement and make them work.

Socialism in some cases is considered bad, well in some cases. Socialism can actually be a very good thing. Countries like Great Britain is a socialist democracy and they have free health care, France has free education. What does these countries have in common ? They are both socialist, and they are democratic free countries. With regulation, you can get more tax money from corporations that make millions if not billions of dollars each year and be able to fund programs that could benefit the community. Like I said earlier, programs like medicare, and social welfare/ social security is there for a reason. I don't think a little tax is going to hurt anyone.

Contact your city councilmen and tell them to put an ordinance in place that requires commercial establishments to have a permit for alarms. Then if they have too many false alarms, they lose the permit or the cost of the permit gets more and more expensive. Eventually, they'll decide to either fix the alarm or deactivate it.

Hello, I work with a rescue that has taken in many Savannah cats of all generations and let me tell you how they act on a basic level.

Most Savannahs have a personality that IS loving, and they jump very high. But they are also very powerful in many other ways.

The problem with Savannahs and other cats like them: Savannahs have claws that shred through couches like nothing, they become overprotective and will hurt whoever comes near there "property" they spray, male and females both, to protect their territory. They have an extreme "Hunt and prey" instinct that drives them to run and "hunt" when outside, and therefore must be kept inside.

The problem with them inside, is that they are NOT normal housepets, it will take many more generations to get them to be one. These cats are big money, so please do not spend it on a Savannah that may end up in a rescue, or dead, because he bites you when you get close to your baby hes attached to, or because he will spray on your furniture and tear up your pillows.

Instead, maybe look at adopting a bengal, who still has the great beautiful coat, or a cat at your local shelter.

If you have anymore questions, you can email me!

    Good luck!

Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone, who was among the most vocal supporters of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s potential bid for the White House, has now decided to sign on to Mitt Romney’s campaign.

Langone, a billionaire venture capitalist, was among several prominent GOP donors who had resisted siding with a candidate until Christie made his decision. Earlier this year, Langone organized a fundraiser for New Jersey Republicans attended by Christie, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and other Republican donors.

But now that the governor has made his decision final, Langone has decided to back Romney, indicating that the big-money donors behind the GOP will likely move from the sidelines to align with candidates. Several donors have thus far stayed out of the race as they waited for the Republican field to crystalize.

The best entrepreneurs are passionate, innovative, demanding and caring. See what makes them excel. Over the past 10 years, I’ve been fortunate to sit in thousands of meetings across the globe with some of the best leaders in media and entertainment, from Oprah Winfrey to movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. It’s absolutely awe-inspiring to watch many of the world’s most recognized entrepreneurs work their magic. Over the years, I’ve identified a consistent set of traits that continue to surface when interfacing with great leaders. The best of the best are passionate, innovative, demanding, caring and are ultimately incredible leaders. Very few people possess all of these traits, but I’d argue the successful entrepreneurs I’ve come across have a majority of the following. 1. They surround themselves with smart people. The success of a great leader is not an accident–and most would agree it’s not a testament to their ability alone. They consistently surround themselves with a strong base of…

“We have yet to march into Iran. Hopefully we won’t. If you march in, destroy their infrastructure, and lure terrorists into the country and then just leave without, at the very least, promising the country you invaded some sort of financial reparations then you are a horrible person and would just further anti-american sentiment world-wide. I’m not going to validate your telephone comment with a response. All I’m asking is for Paul supporters to not try to hijack this “love Iranians/love Israelis” movement. It’s already at a serious disadvantage because the governments in both Israel and Iran have no interest in Israelis and Iranians loving each other. It doesn’t need Americans pandering for a right wing reactionary who has no love for either Israelis or Iranians convoluting the message.”

What is possible for pedophiles should be possible for trainee terrorists and their supporters, too.’ Is this a good move for security, or just another step towards a totalitarian society that prohibits free expression?”
