you should check with your department of health and human services. they have free clinics and doctors that can perscribe you and recomdend free medication and or medical devices. You also may want to check out any sort of living assistance, Medicare. Depending on where you live they have localized gov't health insurance for the uninsured. You may be qualified, or your parents, and use theirs depending on how old you are.

Go to any private practice (a practice that is not a franchise). Most practices work with Phonak since it is one of the top manufacturers. Even if the place does not work with phonak- they will have a hearing aid vacuum and can clean your aid for you.

Try contacting a company that makes hearing aids and ask
them if they could send you one. Tell them about your chosen
assignment. Give them all of the information you can. The more
information you pass onto them, the better your chances are
that you will get several working examples, along with literature

San Diego-based Otonomy has closed a $38.5 million Series B financing. Novo Ventures and RiverVest Venture Partners co-led the round with help from Domain Associates and TPG Biotech. Otonomy previously raised $10 million in June, bringing its total 2010 haul to $48.5 million. Otonomy’s lead product is OTO-104. This sustained-release steroid is being evaluated in a Phase Ib trial as a treatment for Meniere’s disease, a condition that can affect hearing and balance. The developer also is working on OTO-203, a combination product for middle ear infections; clinical trials of that drug are expected to begin in 2011. This funding round will support both programs through pivotal clinical trials. Otonomy also plans to expand its pipeline of other ear disease treatments, including products for acute and chronic forms of hearing loss, balance disorders, and tinnitus. “…[W]e believe that the development of optimized drug treatments for disorders of the ear represents a very attractive…

Wireless communication between left and right hearing aids offers a couple different benefits:
1. Binaural sound processing: our brains are wired to process sounds coming into both left and right ears together. This binaural processing allows humans to localize sound based on timing differences of when the sound(s) reached the right versus left ear. When hearing aids are used, this natural localization phenomenon is often lost due to timing differences in the processing of sound between the two hearing aids. Now because the two hearing aids are essentially talking to one another, the processing/timing of the two hearing aids is the same – thus the natural sound's timing characteristics are not lost and we are still able to localize sound and have spatial awareness. Localization/spatial awareness not only allows us to identify the source of a sound but can aid in our ability to understand speech and other important environmental cues for safety.
2. Binaural synchronization: today's digital hearing aids have many advanced features such as noise reduction and speech enhancement algorithms, directional microphones (which activate to reduce background noise), anti-echo algorithms and many more. These advanced features automatically activate based on the environment and can change the perception of the sound within one's environment. All are very beneficial however if a hearing aid wearer is an environment with sound sources all around them, these advanced features may activate in one ear and not the other. With binaural synchronization (the two hearing aids talking to one another) the two hearing aids work together and the features are activated in both hearing aids. This provides balanced sound quality and allows the hearing aids to work together and at the same time to combat things like background noise.
So yes wireless communication between hearing aids does help and it is the future of hearing aids. It is a feature worth investing in by spending a little extra money on.
Most new digital hearing aids being sold by hearing aid manufacturers will begin to have this feature because it is so beneficial. In fact expect all future hearing aids to have wireless capabilities standard on hearing aids.

Early intervention and close follow-up are key to rehabilitating hearing loss in children, says Paul R. Kileny, Ph.D., director of the University of Michigan’s Audiology and Electrophysiology program. “Timely treatment is crucial,” says Kileny, who specializes in hearing problems in newborns and infants. “If treatment is delayed, children can start falling behind in critical milestones for speech and language development, and they may never catch up…

posted by: Alternative Medicine remarks: Risk factors for losing your ability to hear distinctly as you grow older. Amplify’d from http://www.altmeds.com Age-related hearing loss Many adults find their ability to hear declines over time as they age; about half of people over age 75 report some degree of hearing loss, which is called presbycusis. One reason may be the tiny hairs inside the ear that pick up vibrations and stimulate nerves, which the brain interprets as sound. As we age, the hairs die and do not regrow, giving older people less sensitivity to sound. Other factors that can lead to age-related hearing loss include: Repeated exposure to loud sounds in industrial settings, listening to amplified music, or listening to high-volume music with headphones.Heredity. Age-related hearing loss tends to run in families.Smoking. Smokers are at greater risk of hearing loss. FMs AND HEARING AIDS ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS
FM systems and assistive listening devices (ALDs) are not just used in theaters and churches anymore. It is your right under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to access needed modifications such as a taper recorder, preferential seating, a note taker or FM system.
PLEASE NOTE THAT BILATERAL HEARING AIDS IMPROVE LOCALIZATION AND AMPLIFIES SOUNDS… INCLUDING SOUNDS IN SPECIFIC FREQUENCIES BASED ON YOUR INDIVIDUAL AUDIOGRAM.
FM SYSTEMS JUST AMPLIFIES THE SPEAKERS VOICE WHICH REDUCES THE BACKGROUND NOISE.
There are several types of FM systems that can be used in the classroom. FM systems are composed of a FM transmitter and a receiver.
The FM transmitter or the microphone and its components are used by your professors. The idea is to increase the speech signal and to decrease the background or ambient noise that your hearing aids may pick up.
The FM receiver can be an ear level receiver such as hearing aid audio boots. A boot is a small sleeve that fits over the end of a BTE hearing aid. The boot inserts the audio signal into the hearing aids' Direct Audio Input (DAI) interface. Not all BTE hearing aids have an audio boot interface.
Other receivers include: headphones/ear buds (typically for children with CAPD or ADD), a desktop speaker or a sound field system located around the classroom (everyone benefits from this).
Depending on the type you buy, FMs can be fairly inexpensive to purchase. Here's just one of many links:

Check with the vocational rehabilitation department for your state. If you need the HAs to work, they may help you with the cost. Starkey Foundation gives away HAs as well. The other link is not well maintained, but has many sources for funding for hearing aids.

So, do guys really want a LTR with a quality woman? I am a 5’3 full figured woman, with blonde hair and blue eyes. I like listening to live music, hanging out with friends, romantic evenings with that special someone, and family is very important to me. So, if you’re looking for an independent, educated, confident woman to get to know and develop into a LTR, contact me. Please keep in mind, I am looking for a SINGLE white male with similar qualities so, if you are a man of color, please do not reply. I mean no disrespect, it’s just my preference. This means I’m looking for a relationship not a one and done. The weather is nice only for another month or so…it would be nice to still enjoy a few margaritas on a patio somewhere. Thank you for your interest and I’ll look forward to hearing from you.

How do you get over ten years of limerence? I have been in love / limerence with a woman for ten years. We were lovers for the first two of those and then work took us to different parts of the world. It is classic limerence but has never faded despite numerous relationships since then. We reconnected recently online and she expressed the same feelings over the same period of time. The news brought my current relationship to an abrupt end, hers continues (although they are working at it). Today ee decided to cease all further contact for the sake of her relationship efforts and my sanity. I’m devastated at the thought of never seeing, hearing from or being with her again. Cliche of cliches, life has now lost all purpose, the length of time this has gone on exacerbates my pessimism about ever moving on. I’ve tried to tackle my feelings through therapy, medication, applying rationality, cynicism, philosophy and alcohol. Nothing stops the deep and profound feelings I have for her and I’m…
