Specifically, changes in expression of over 1700 transcription factor (TF) genes were investigated in hair cells of auditory and vestibular organs following treatment with two different damaging agents and regeneration in vitro. Multiple components of seven distinct known signaling pathways were clearly identifiable: TGFβ, PAX, NOTCH, WNT, NFKappaB, INSULIN/IGF1 and AP1. Numerous components of apoptotic and cell cycle control pathways were differentially expressed, including p27KIP and TFs that regulate its expression. A mixed hearing loss is a combination of a conductive hearing loss and a sensorineural hearing loss. The conductive component of mixed hearing losses are often temporary like how you describe for your son. If the conductive component is caused by middle ear fluid, the part of the hearing loss will more than likely get better.

The sensorineural component is permanent. And depending upon the degree of the sensorineural component, he may or may not require amplification from hearing aids.

I would recommend you consult your audiologist to discuss the effects of your son's hearing loss on his ability to hear and understand speech. He or she will be able to give you a better idea if he will possibly require hearing aids. It truly depends on his audiogram and your son's audiologist and ENT will be your best sources for determining the answer to this question.

because they do not know how to talk to them through signing, and most people do not carry a pen and pad with them..so if they can not ask them what they were going to they just tell them there sorry for bothering them and walk away, most hearing impaired can read lips so they know what your saying.but if they can not speak you will not understand..now most of the hearing impaired can talk their voices are a bit flat but you can understand them and most hearing people who have never been around a hearing impaired person would not know that..the only exception may be some one who has been deaf since birth they may not be able to talk as well as some one who use to be able to hear..

Depending how bad it is you may not get a waiver at all. I would call a recruiter and see what they think.

Current hearing threshold level in either ear greater than that described below is disqualifying:

(1) Pure tone at 500, 1000, and 2000 cycles per second for each ear of not more than 30 decibels (dB) on the average, with no individual level greater than 35 dB at those frequencies.

(2) Pure tone level not more than 45 dB at 3000 cycles per second or 55 dB at 4000 cycles per second for each ear.

(3) There is no standard for 6000 cycles per second.

Current or history of hearing aid use (V53.2) is disqualifying.
