once the hair cells are damaged they are damaged. there is no magical-medicinal cure for a sensory/ neural hearing loss.
buck up and get your self some hearing aids. if you have a high frequency loss. make sure they have directional microphones and at the very least 8 channels so the audiologist has greater programming ease.

I start wearing hearing aid when I was 3 (born deaf). It was old box type (size of playing card). O Yet, that was when I was born in 1946. Also I was picture in LIFE mag (don’t remeber what date between 1949 to 1951, sorry). Last box I used was in the 80. Now I use BTE since 80. I never when to special school, just regular school with all normal kids. Now I have three kids and four grandkids. What a life.

No. Compression does just the opposite. It holds the loud passages down preventing overloading/distortion of the recording. (It does increase the volume of the quieter passages but holds the overall volume down so the channel(s) is(are) not overloaded. Basically, it decreases the ability to express music through dynamics – makes louder passages quieter and quieter ones louder. It's a real music killer!

As you know, its not often that we do hardware reviews, and usual we reserve those for the hardware we really like. This is one of those cases. Arctic Sound released their new Bluetooth P311 headset last week, and we got our hands on a unit. At first when we got the information about the price ($37.95), we were a little concerned. At under $40, how much quality can you really pack into a pair of headphones? Turns out, a lot. First the good. Syncing these to our iPhone was super easy. The headset was immediately picked up and over a week of real use (1-2 hours a day), the connection never needed to be reset. Other headsets have required reconnecting, but not these.
