All three of these hearing aids contain microprocessors that perform digital filtering to customize the amplification to the wearer’s hearing profile. They further dynamically adjust to reduce ambient noises. There is a tiny computer port inside the battery door that allows them to be reprogrammed as required. The hearing aid on the upper right fits behind the ear and allows some of the ambient sound around the output hole. The hearing aid on the upper left fits completely inside the ear and can not be seen unless some one looks directly into the ear. The hearing aid on the lower left fits even further into the ear and can’t be seen at all.

This will depend on your life style. Perfect hearing is -10 to 10, Normal hearing is 0 to -10 and Average is -10 to -20 dBs. Some people that are involved in Music will want a hearing aid if they are at -20 because they will be needing to hear some frequiencies more clearly.

GENERALY speaking, if you are at -30 and below in frequencies 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1200, 2000 —- You will want a digital hearing aid.

There is an American Guy in South America that I bought My Aids from. He works in Peru helping the Poor and the 3rd world people hear. He has a company called AccuToneUSA and he told me to send my Ear Impressions to Him. He build me 2 VERY nice 32 channel 64 band hearing aids for about $1200 total. However they do make listening devices like a spy might use. It looks a little like a small satellite disk and a set of headphones. See link for example.

There are several hearing aid manufacturers with excellent technology available. Which one is best for YOUR mother can not be determined here. She needs a current hearing evaluation (less than six months old), and a Hearing Aid Evaluation, preferably to include a demonstration, so she can listen through hearing aids to experience what the sound is like. Also, don't consider just the hearing aid(s), also make sure you find an Audiologist that you feel you can trust and who establishes a good rapport with your mother, for the long term of service.

There are many variables to consider when choosing the best hearing aids for an individual. Here are some resources to help you find out more:

Interesting. My wife got LASIK 5 years ago, and it was a huge life-changer for her. No side effects and she’s been lens-free ever since, with 20/15 vision and excellent night vision. Previous to the procedure she had 20/50 or worse and had great difficulty driving at night. But if 55% complain about side effects and 1/20 operations are botched, it’s a risky elective procedure.

I have had 3 sets of tubes and had my eardrum replaced (all of which failed) and have had major hearing loss in the left ear along with moderate hearing loss in the right ear. I have had about 30 ruptures and countless infections and have not heard normally at any time that I remember, but luckily i got a brand new Widex hearing aid! Granite everything is louder and its annoying, but its still cool not having to have people repeat themselves!

Mainly everyone loves listening to songs whilst indoors doing chores or even other things. We generally put all our music within our apple iPods or even computers. It’s really not that excellent performing chore wearing ear buds or even earphones. If we don’t put on a hearing item, we can’t listen to the background music when outside our areas. You might remember that we’d said back in April that AT&T would be picking up the Sony Ericsson X10 in the 30th week of the year. Well, turns out we weren’t exactly right, but it seems we’re going to end up being pretty damn close. We’re hearing that AT&T is lining up for a launch some time between the middle of August and the middle of September; smartphone data is required, of course, and it’ll cost independent dealers $345 per unit (retail pricing is anyone’s guess). Also launching in the same timeframe will be the Samsung Eternity II, a device BGR had mentioned back in June. No details on this one, but we’d assume it’ll be a slicker, higher-spec follow-on to the original Eternity from way back in ’08. Sadly, there’s no indication these X10s will have anything other than the dusty Android 1.6-based platform they’ve been running everywhere since their global launch, so get ready to travel back in time if you end up cross-shopping this with the Captivate. In 2007, the average hearing aid in the US sold for just under $2000 each. You can expect to find a range anywhere from just under $1000 to over $3000 a piece. Why the cost? They're very sophisticated micro-computers, individualized to each specific person's needs, extremely small, and become obsolete as quickly as other consumer electronics yet are sold in relatively small numbers (think big screen TVs when they first came out), just to name a few reasons.

My best advice is to stay away from gimmicky ads in the paper and coupon deals…seek out a recommendation from an audiologist after a thorough hearing exam. Not all hearing aid dispensers are audiologists so make sure you are seeing a hearing health care professional (ie. an audiologist) not a salesperson. You can ask your primary care physician who they recommend, or ask your insurance company who is on your plan.

If cost is a concern, seek out the best hearing aid you can afford as they will last about 5 years on average. Sound quality is proportionate to cost, and matching you up with a hearing aid successfully means getting features that will work well for how you plan to use it. Ask about payment plans, use your health care spending account if you have one, and see if you qualify for any discounts through your health insurance (although they are rarely covered.)
