New Hearing Aids Are Discreet and Wireless Everyone knows that bigger doesn’t always mean better. Waistlines, bills and gas prices are just a few examples. Now hearing aid manufacturers are taking this sentiment to heart, with new devices that are both discreet and hi-tech. The new PURE hearing aid is designed for users who want the best in hearing technology, while staying connected to the latest electronic devices. An extra small device that boasts the latest in amplification and single processing technologies, it can handle any listening environment. And with the addition of the new TEK interface, wearers can now connect wirelessly with Bluetooth enabled devices, TVs, computers and MP3 players. Produced for Siemens

As reported previously on this blog, the requirements under the HIPAA/HITECH statutes and regulations for public disclosure of security breaches of Protected Health Information (“PHI”) have been bringing to light new breaches of PHI security and direct intervention by attorneys general with respect to such breaches. An earlier posting reported that Richard Blumenthal, as Attorney General of Connecticut, has been especially prominent in investigating PHI security breaches affecting individuals in his state. He also distinguished himself by successfully recovering for Connecticut the first state settlement for PHI security breaches under HIPAA/HITECH in an amount of $250,000. The enactment of HITECH gave state attorneys general the ability to enforce PHI security breaches under HIPAA for the first time in federal district court as parens patriae (on behalf of state residents) if they believe their residents are threatened or adversely affected by HIPAA violations. It was pointed out in…

Have you considered creating a website about a subject that you enjoy and know a thing or two about? My wife and I have been running a few websites for about a year and are amazed at the results.

Basically you bulid a website with good/valuable information. People find your website when they are looking for the information you have written about. You make money when the seeker clicks your ads (from Google) or clicks/buys other things that are on your site (called Affiliate sales.)

To brainstorm the website idea, determine profitability, easily build the website, and optimize the web pages to get traffic we used a special web-based tool. The tool walks you through every step of the process with both video and text instructions. Its pretty amazing. You can see an example monthly commission check at the site below which is actually now out of date and lower than what we get now.

The website subjects we chose are surprisingly simple. Also, there are apparently people making 10x what we are earning on our site. Again, its amazing.

Your professor is right it is less than 1% chance that you could get HIV or AIDS for a needle stick. I too am a health care worker and have has a stick or two myself but if you follow the needle stick instructions report the accident first for the records if something should happen later to you, wash the site, squeeze the area to make bleed, review patient health history, if need as the pt. would they be willing to go get tested because you were just stuck with a used needle pt. they are not always truthful about the health history fearful of not being treated. If all steps are done in order after the needle stick happen and the results come back neg. you will be fine. But the needle should be recapped after each use to prevent this from happening in the first place and be very careful cleaning up the treatment area after each use. This is part of Universal precaution.

I'm not sure about any cell phones, but you can get a Phonak Smart Link FM system, which has blue tooth technology, and you can plug your cell phone into it, which will send the signal directly into your hearing aid. You'd have to buy a reciever to attach to your hearing aid as well. This can be expensive, but if you're planning on using your phone a lot it would be worth it. I would suggest you call Phonak's FM division and ask them more about it. Good luck!
