In the Seattle area, the union apprentice list is written in the contract. It is a basic list of hacksaw, hammer, screwdrivers, level, pencil, 2 pair of channel lock pliers, lineman pliers and a set of side cutters and needle nose pliers. Journeyman have several others, including a current code book, tool belt and pouch and a voltage tester and a flashlight. Also a 8" adjustable wrench and a tape measure. This is the basic set for most construction electricians but the list changes with the branch of the industry. Ask at the local union hall for a local list. This is list is from memory and is not complete.
