In upper grades these books are checked out to them individually rather than in a class set. Usually this involves going to the library and getting your materials for the year on the first day of each class. Many of us enjoy our local trails. Particularly well known in our own “backyard” are the Cold Canyon, Blue Ridge, Frog Pond, and Cache Creek Ridge trails. More recently many have hiked the newly constructed Valley Vista Trail. And, now Annie’s Trail at the headwaters of Cold Canyon is nearing completion. Hiking the Cold Canyon Trail is an egalitarian experience. One meets people of all ages, shapes and sizes: groups of teens, families, people of all ethnicities, and folks from Roseville, Vacaville, Woodland, Davis, Winters, Sacramento, the Bay Area, and other towns who come for short strolls or long hikes completing the full 5-mile loop.
