Siemens is the leading company in pioneering research and development in the industry of hearing aid. They have revolutionized the design of a wide range of technically advanced hearing aids. They are also aimed in producing other facilities for hearing support to aid people in meeting the challenge of hearing loss. In the total of one – hundred percent of people suffering from hearing loss, ten percent can be helped medically and the remaining ninety percent can benefit from the use of Siemens hearing aids. Siemens also provides solutions to match individual needs.
“Presidential hearing aid history includes President Ronald Reagan and President Bill Clinton, two presidents of very different ages who both wore hearing aids.”
Siemens hearing aids can help persons suffering from hearing loss re – establish their connection to the world. The aids are designed to selectively change the volume of the sounds you want to hear. Through the volume adjustment feature of the Siemens hearing aids, you can make audible sounds that are soft, as well as creating suppress or loud sounds.
The Siemens hearing aids also provides binaural amplification for people who are unable to hear from both ears. People can reap several benefits from such technology including an increase in speech understanding.
“Considering advances in technology, and the ability of science to shrink useful items, the hearing aid of the future is likely to be an implantable device or even a surgical procedure”
The binaural amplification can deliver more sounds that you need allowing your brain to process the sounds accurately. There will also be a reasonable enhancement in the quality of the sound. Through this benefit, there will be a minimal risk in auditory fatigue and distortion.

Several Types of Siemens Hearing Aids
The ACURIS incorporates the e2e wireless technology, which enables two hearing instruments to exchange information and functions in total synchronization. This type of Siemens hearing aid is easy to wear and adjust.
“There are at least two hearing aid manufacturers claiming to make the smallest hearing aid in the world”
Additionally, it is available in different models such as the Micro – CIC. This category of model is a trademark of Siemens. The ACURIS provides the answer for many levels of hearing loss.
Aside from the ACURIS, there are other Siemens hearing aids available from the CENTRA family. The CENTRA includes the SoundSmooting technology that greatly reduces annoying noises while preserving the sound of voices and conversations. The DataLearning technology automatically adjusts the CENTRA hearing aid to match your preferences. The hearing aid is also has the most advanced adaptive feedback cancellation allowing the reduction and elimination of high – pitched whistling sounds.
“However amazing the world’s smallest hearing aids are, they still might be the wrong hearing aids for you. Since you will be working with these devices every day, you need to be comfortable handling them, putting them on and taking them off”
The CENTRA hearing system also includes the Directional Microphone Instrument. Through this feature, the hearing aid will automatically adapt to your environment and even reduce multiple noise sources. One of its feature is also similar to the ACURIS hearing aid, namely the e2e wireless communication. This feature maintains your instruments balanced at all times. Additionally, the technology enables you to control the volume and program of both hearing aids at the same time.

Deafness is of two types. Conductive deafness and nerve deafness. Conductive deafness occurs when continuity of sound travel from atmosphere to ear drum is disturbed. Closing the ear,wax in ear, pus or blood in ear can cause this. Nerve deafness is when Auditory nerve is effected by disease. Diabetes, tumors and genetic are some of the causes

Stereocilia, or the tiny hairs inside our ears, are an integral part of the hearing system. But overexposure to noise – such as experienced in music concerts or blasting tunes from an iPod – can permanently damage them, degrading a person’s hearing over time. Researchers at Stanford, however, have hit a breakthrough in growing hair-like cells that function just like those in our ears. This could mean solutions for damaged hearing. Gizmag writes, “[W]e’re born with 30,000 [stereocilia] per ear, but once they die off or get damaged, they’re gone for good. Stefan Heller, a professor of otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) at Stanford University, wants to change that. To that end, he recently succeeded in creating mou… Read the full story on Planet Green

The answer here is yes! My daughter was recently diagnosed with ACM so we have really read up on the subject. ACM is a very serious thing. It can lead to all types of nerve damage. You can loose motor skills as well. I hope you are seeing a nuerologist who has dealt with ACM. Many have never had a case and from everything I have read you need someone who is a specialist in ACM.

Your Grandma's hearing aids have not been set appropriately for her. I would recommend she return to the Beltone office she purchased them through and have them re-program the hearing aids. It is ideal to have a family member go to the appointment with her to ensure proper care is given and to talk with her while she is getting them tuned. This will help the family know at the time of the office visit that they have been set correctly and she is hearing properly.
Being fit with new hearing aids is a process and does take a few visits to ensure the hearing aids have been adjusted properly. There is also an adjustment period for the hearing aid wearer to get used to hearing with their new hearing aids.
Also testing called Real-ear verification is an absolute must in the hearing aid fitting process. This allows the audiologist or hearing aid specialist to visibly see how well the hearing aids are amplifying once fit on the patient. If the Beltone office she went to does not have real-ear verification, then that is very disappointing and I would recommend going to another office.

If you read here, it connects the two:
Here are more links on the Pendred syndrome:
Here are a couple more links on the Montini syndrome:
I hope this is of some help. The Mondini dysplasia is common…the Pendred syndrome is not…therefore, the newpapers have listed the wrong diagnosis you received.
I would ask the doctor if this is possible

he saw this on your tests he has done.

Hi, I'm an Audiologist.
Miracle Ear is a company that manufactures hearing aids and has a chain of franchise dispensaries that deal with their product exclusively.
As far as the technology of their devices goes, they are fairly compatible with other brands. However, they tend to charge more, as they need to recoup the money for their advertising.
I've had several patients that have had bad experiences with Miracle Ear products and Dispensers. But then again, if they were happy, they wouldn't be coming to see us. Still, it is an important investment she is making, and she needs to not only consider the cost and convenience, but also the service and professional support she will receive.
I strongly recommend that she consult a few Audiologists rather than Hearing Aid Dispensers in the area, to shop around for the product and service. Especially if she has never worn hearing aids before, it is important that she fully understand the options available to her; and to have someone that will explain to her what to expect, how to adapt to hearing all the sounds she's been missing, and how to get the most from her investment. For example, if both of her ears hear about equally, she would do much better if she had amplification for both ears.
No matter where she purchases, she should get a trial period that is AT LEAST 30 days long, during which she has the option to return the aid(s) with no questions asked (most places do have some portion of the cost that is not refunded). Make sure she goes in for at least one follow-up visit during that trial period and that she gets all her questions answered promptly and professionally.
If at all possible, have someone accompany her to these visits — it's a lot of information, and the some of my patients can seem intimidated by the process. Unfortunately, some seniors can be easily influenced or will simply just want to keep it simple and just stay with the first person they talk to. She's spending a lot of money and these devices need to help her for the next five years or so — it's better not to make a hasty decision.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to click on my name/avatar and the on Contact hearkat and send me a note.

TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) – Siemens AG, the Munich engineering giant, may take public its Osram lighting business in the next couple of months, people familiar with the discussions told Bloomberg News. To prepare the IPO, Siemens retained Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and Commerzbank, Bloomberg reported. Osram, the No. 2 producer of lighting products after Philips Electronics of the Netherlands, has an enterprise value of €6.5 billion to €7 billion ($8.98 billion to $9.67 billion), Bloomberg reported, citing estimates by Morgan Stanley. The sale of those operations would move Siemens closer to selling off all of its consumer-products businesses; it still sells hearing aids, Bloomberg reported.

In 2007, the average hearing aid in the US sold for just under $2000 each. You can expect to find a range anywhere from just under $1000 to over $3000 a piece. Why the cost? They're very sophisticated micro-computers, individualized to each specific person's needs, extremely small, and become obsolete as quickly as other consumer electronics yet are sold in relatively small numbers (think big screen TVs when they first came out), just to name a few reasons.
My best advice is to stay away from gimmicky ads in the paper and coupon deals…seek out a recommendation from an audiologist after a thorough hearing exam. Not all hearing aid dispensers are audiologists so make sure you are seeing a hearing health care professional (ie. an audiologist) not a salesperson. You can ask your primary care physician who they recommend, or ask your insurance company who is on your plan.
If cost is a concern, seek out the best hearing aid you can afford as they will last about 5 years on average. Sound quality is proportionate to cost, and matching you up with a hearing aid successfully means getting features that will work well for how you plan to use it. Ask about payment plans, use your health care spending account if you have one, and see if you qualify for any discounts through your health insurance (although they are rarely covered.)

I found a few links that may help you. Personally, we sat our grandfather down and explained that if he didn't go in for testing grandma was going to stop listening to HIM until he did….but grandpa was really a stubborn ornery sort of person and I wouldn't recommend that approach for many people. The links are probably more appropriate for your situation.
It may help if you could get him to discuss why he doesn't want a hearing aid. They make almost invisible ones cheaper now if he's vain about it. Perhaps he doesn't want to spend the money or doesn't have insurance that would cover it. In the end there may be nothing that will convince him to get one, but good luck with your efforts hun.

Hearing is an important ability for humans. Without a good hearing, you may not go about normal day-to-day tasks with appreciable levels of ease and comfort. You may have difficulties hearing well while conversing, driving or walking. Hearing aids can help you deal with such shortcomings. Hearing problems may affect your ability to communicate significantly with the people around you. Such shortcomings may affect how you relate with workmates, friends and family members. Have you ever had to shout in a conversation because you thought you were not audible enough? That may have been because you were not hearing well and thought you had to speak louder for people to hear.
