A six string is what you hear on every song ever. So if you just want to play covers to learn, then that's the one to get. The 12 is something that you don't hear very often. That said, in my opinion it does technically sound better. It's a richer harp-like sound. If you're more interested in originals, then it would be a fun way to go. Not necessarily harder to play, just different. Really though, you should just get an electric!

Short answer – yes, you can reuse the factory wiring and run the speaker wires from your new amp to the old wires going to your door speakers.
Disclaimer – If you have a car with a Bose system or otherwise factory amplified, this will probably not work. If you are running a powerful amp, the factory speaker wires may be a little small. If the factory wires are old, you may have problems with sound quality. It's always a better idea to run new high quality wire, but if you're just adding a relatively small amp to your simple factory system (HU and 4 speakers, nothing else) then you SHOULD be fine. YMMV.
