I was tickled pink to find a hearing aid prices like this.
They have way too little hearing aid history. I have not been convinced that these hearing aid prices questions are irrelevant. I found a couple of comfortable accommodations. This is a handy guide. I hate that there are idiots out there like that. is this person close to you, or are they kids at school? if they're close to you, then you have the opportunity to tell them how much it really hurts you and if they were in your position, they'd understand. if it's idiotic children at school, then you're out of luck. You'll never change the meanness of kids, no matter how hard you try. You could try running into one of their parents and letting THEM know how rude their kid is.

The only way you can communicate is ASL? You seem to have adequate writing skills. How dare you tell me I am not part of the Deaf community? I am a CODA, and the sense of community is in no way superficial. I would know because I grew up in it. Being deaf doesn’t make you a part of the Deaf community. Please note the difference between Deaf/deaf. This is my last post on this matter. You only replied to my post because you wanted to argue. That is pointless and childish.

I’ve recently gotten an iCom and it works great for hearing what’s coming across the phone, but everyone tells me from the other end of the phone, my voice sounds loud and crackly and screechy. Anyone have that problem?

I do not know how to answer this from personal experience, but my cousin wears hearing aids and eyeglasses. She chose a light wire frame when she wears her eyeglasses, but uses contact lenses most of the time. I am not sure if contacts are an option for you, but you may want to consider it. If you can wear hearing aids that are not behind the ear, that may be another option for you as well.

Saying that they are still bacteria is like saying that humans are still mammals. We diverged from bacteria long ago, but that doesn’t mean that bacteria goes away. Bacteria will be around as long as it can survive as bacteria. Single Celled organisms split into plants, animals and bacteria billions of years ago because some forms found a way to survive collectively and some found ways to survive alone. I have only worn aids without the feature. I can tell you it is a bit annoying when in a noisy environment one aid gets quieter (turning down noise) and you hear a difference between ears. Sound may not be quite loud enough to activate noise reduction feature on both aids if it is on one side of you. So I think the wireless communication feature would be nice if both aids were acting the same it would be less annoying to hear the different sounds from each ear. Also the ability to localize sound in the environment is supposed to be improved with the wireless feature. Good Luck!

Yes, her deafness is hereditary. There is a big chance of her passing this to the puppies, I'm not sure the exact probability.
This is the reason that white boxers cannot be shown and should NEVER be bred — because the white gene is linked to deafness.
To breed a DEAF dog would be utterly stupid and irresponsible.
Deafness linked to the white gene occurs in quite a few breeds, and the English Bulldog is one of them. So I have no doubt that your dog's deafness is hereditary.

What dogs are you talking about? Your deaf dogs' parents?
Your dog, being deaf, means that it inherited 2 recessive genes for deafness. Meaning either a) one parent was deaf and the other not deaf, or b) both parents were carriers of the deaf gene. It is possible that one parent could be unilaterally deaf (deaf in one ear) and you would never know it.
Either way, we already know that your dog has 2 copies of the deaf gene. So, even if bred with a dog that has NO deaf gene, 100% of the puppies would be carriers. If bred with a dog that was a carrier, 50% of the puppies would be carriers and 50% would be deaf. If bred with another deaf dog, all puppies would be deaf.
Deafness even in just one ear is STILL considered deafness. Only BAER testing can determine if a dog is only deaf in one ear. And there is no way of knowing whether a dog is JUST a carrier without knowing a LOT about the dogs' history and genetics in general.
So…. without testing, you can NOT tell a dog is deaf in only one ear. You'd think he's perfectly normal — and then end up with a bunch of deaf puppies.
Another thing: breeding deaf dogs, and mostly white dogs, increases the chance for deafness EVEN in colored dogs.

Basically anyone with profound hearing loss that has a properly formed cochlea and properly functioning auditory nerve will probably be a candidate for a cochlear implant. People who lost their hearing due to CMV, rubella, meningitis (if implanted within weeks of onset of illness), genetic factors, Rh factors, or premature birth can probably be eligible for a cochlear implant.

Ear infections are common among many swimmers. They are always risking their hearing sense as they dive into the water. Water may enter the ear and may clog some parts of the ear; eventually the condition may damage the internal ear parts and may lead to total deafness. Worst, if you are swimming in dirty and unsafe waters, you will surely have high risk of ear infections.
