The body part is not exactly moved "by thought" as in, you think about moving your big toe and it moves. A more precise way of putting it would be to say that the body part moves "by brainpower" just as any of your other body parts move.
The artificial body parts can either be made of synthetic materials (metals, plastics, etc) or grown from organic cells (i.e. stem cells) and are attached to the same nerves in your body that the original body part's nerves would have been attached to. The artificial part is designed to respond to specific nerve signals from the brain the same way the original body part would have.
This does not happen automatically, as soon as the body part is attached; there is a period where the brain has to "learn" how to send the signal to the new bionic part, but it is very helpful that the part is already designed to receive the signals.
This technology is new and rapidly growing and changing–keep your eye on it, it's exciting!

The vascular and neural damage to the penis that is called circumcision always diminishes sexual sensitivity. The sensitivity continues to diminish throughout the male's lifetime as the keratinization process continues slowly and inexorably.
Circumcision is the worst hoax ever perpetrated on the male sex.

Hi Lisa,
Yes, this can certainly happen. It's what we call 'hyperacusis', and can be caused by loud noises. Here's a little info for you:
The good news is that as long as you aren't exposing yourself to loud noises consistently, it should go away completely in the next few days. Make sure you take care of your ears, though! You only get one set, and they've got to last you your entire life!

I do find a blogroll useful, though, as they still remain a curated collection that the blog author is recommending. If I like someone’s blog (and I often go from my feed reader to the original post), I’ll take a look at any blogroll they have, but I have to do that quickly, as I usually go to a post and then use the Readability bookmarklet to render the page in a much more readable format that cuts out all but the post itself.

You're pretty much thinking on the right track. Majoring (or double majoring) in Art History and Museum Science would be most beneficial to you. Look for a school that offers both. Most schools offer an Art History major so narrow your search by looking for schools offering a Museum Studies major. You can either double major or major in one and minor in the other.

Education is an easy back up major. Also if you are not real fast with numbers you might get tired of being on a hard grind. Engineering is for people that it comes very easy for. Otherwise you will have your nose in the books 24-7 and still don't have decent grades. You may be extremely intellectual and engineering is a realistic goal- rather than a dream for you. Good luck….

Only you will know what you want your windows to look like. White goes with anything. Window curtains, though, tell everyone what room is what. and How many rooms there are in a house. If you want every room to be different colors, designs, and/or shapes it is all up to you. When a person is looking at a house from the outside their not looking at the curtains. If that is what you do then you are not noticing uniqueness and quality of the house, you are judging the person who lives in the house.

It all depends. For example, a college might have so many applicants (and I will use UF for this example) that it might change its standards to keep away some of the "lower tier" applicants.
UF recently changed their engineering school transfer acceptance requirements thereby making them tougher. For example, they raised the GPA limit to 3.0 and even in the School of Engineering, the GPA's of some of the programs are astronomical (3.6 for Bioengineering) when compared to the others.
It all depends what is "hot" and what has managed to cool off a bit. I hear that programs like the Arts and Liberal "Sciences" (not much competition to get in) as well as Business (schools of business are larger than most schools) are always easier to get into than certain majors. Also, unpopular majors such as Physics and Mathematics might be easier to get into than Chemistry or Biology in certain schools. The bottom line is you need to do your research with your specific school and remember, don't put all your eggs in one basket! My GF did that and the college of her choice didn't accept her and now she has to stay around here for a few more semesters.
Also of note, most colleges also give preference to transfers with an A.A. degree and most have articulation agreements with other colleges. So, check out your local community college and find out what transfer agreements they have. Reason being that statistically speaking, college grads do better at the university level than their high school counterparts. While this might not mean much for typical people, this has an adverse effect on a college's pass rating and drop out rate. A high drop out rate and a low graduation rate could mean that the college is hard and potentially affect its enrollment. Also, transferring could potentially save you thousands of dollars of books and fees as well as allow you to transfer into your program as a junior. Best of all, your GPA is wiped clean and so all the mistakes of your freshman year don't keep up with you. I currently have a 3.0 and I regret it because I did A LOT of stupid things that I shouldn't have. Think about all these things and possibilities. You don't always have to jump straight into a university from high school.
Weigh all your options. Listen to those of us here already. Learn from our mistakes.

Since it does not matter what your degree is in, make it something that you like. As you get to the last year of college, you will find it really hard to do well in your classes if you just don't care about the material. You could pick engineering, and that would sound good, but you may lose interest in the coursework and not finish. Or you could pick psychology, ace all of your classes, and have a great college career. It is up to you, but I don't think that it would be possible to get a degree in something that you are not interested in.

It can, but new surgical techniques have reduced the risk. I was diagnosed with it about a year ago, but a second opinion from Johns-Hopkins said no. At least not yet. Anyhow, there are a number of different treatments that depend on the age of the patient and the stage of the disease. At my age, 50, and the very early preliminary diagnosis, removal was recommended. There is a new procedure called the da Vinci procedure that is minimally invasive and less likely to lead to the nerve damage that causes impotence. However, it is still a risk, as well as a risk of urinary incontinence. And even if you are not impotent, your orgasms will be dry – seminal fluid is produced by the prostate. There are also other procedures, such as implanting radioactive 'seeds' into the prostate. It is my understanding that the risk of impotence from that or any other radiation procedure is higher than da Vinci surgery, but less than with traditional surgery. Chemo and broader irradiation can be recommended in more advanced cases.
My brother had the daVinci procedure, and he is able to have sex. He uses a penile constriction band to maintain an erection; I don't know whether he had any ED problems before. He is able to have orgasms, but as I said, they are dry.
Sometimes, again depending on the age,the stage, and how aggressive the cancer, they will recommend leaving it alone. Don't bank on that, though.
Here's a link with info on the daVinci procedure.
Tell your friend my thoughts and prayers are with him. I know how scary this is. I have to have regular biopsies to keep track of mine, and every time I go through hell waiting for the results.
If you Google 'prostate cancer stories' there are lots of personal stories on the web.

posted by: Mo Hall Amplify’d from http://www.cnn.com The Droid Bionic, from Motorola, is powerful and can run a ton of peripheral devices — for a price. (Wired) — Like Optimus Prime or Al Gore, the Droid Bionic is a robot in disguise. Sure, the Bionic looks like it’s just a massive, industrial-styled phone, just like our favorite Transformer looked like nothing other than a badass eighteen-wheeler. But the Droid Bionic can also change into a laptop, a desktop workstation, and other things which are decidedly un-phone-like. We’ve been waiting to see a finished version of this phone since Motorola first showed off the Bionic in January. Though it was supposed to launch months ago on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, Moto sent the phone back to the drawing board for improvements (ostensibly to better stack up against HTC’s 4G LTE offering, the Thunderbolt). The phone came back as a connectivity beast with lots of optional peripheral attachments, turning the Bionic into a successor of sorts to the…

Tiny twisting muscles developed for propelling nanobots via Gizmag Emerging Technology Magazine on 10/14/11 We’ve been hearing a lot lately about the possibility of treating medical conditions using nanobots – tiny robots that would be injected into a patient’s bloodstream, where they would proceed to travel to their targets, not unlike the microscopic submarine in the movie Fantastic Voyage … except nanobots wouldn’t be crewed by tiny shrunken-down humans. One challenge that still needs to be met, however, is figuring out a way of propelling the devices. Well, we may now be closer to a solution. Yesterday, development of a new type of nanoscale artificial muscle was announced, which works like the muscles in an elephant’s trunk. These could conceivably be used in nanobots, to whip them along using a rotating flagellum – a tiny sperm-like tail, in other words… Continue Reading Tiny twisting muscles developed for propelling nanobotsSection: Science and Education Tags: Biomimicry,…

Okay where are the guys that are real out there? Someone who is caring and wants a best friend? I think men are capable of being in relationships but have yet to find one. Dated younger guys and older doesn’t matter. Maybe my new mantra for the New Year will be f k it and take it as it comes. I am not looking for a billionaire, sugar daddy or a model. Just a guy that has feelings, likes his job, is respectful and fun. Of course being cute is a huge plus. DEFINITELY NOT LOOKING FOR A HOOKUP OR SOMEONE WHO IS ATTACHED OR MARRIED. A little about me have younger friends and do not look my age. Enjoy the simple things in life and like to laugh. If you are affectionate like kissing, cuddling, holding hands then we are a match. Look forward to hearing from you and lets see if we can start the New Year right!

Hugh Pickens writes “A new report from the Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce called ‘Hard Times: College Majors, Unemployment and Earnings: Not All College Degrees Are Created Equal’ analyzes unemployment by major. It shows that not enough students — and their families who are also taking on student loans — are asking what their college major is worth in the workforce. ‘Too many students aren’t sure what job they could get after four, five or even six years of studying a certain major and racking up education loans,’ writes Singletary. ‘Many aren’t getting on-the-job training while they are in school or during their semester or summer breaks. As a result, questions about employment opportunities or what type of job they have the skills to attain are met with blank stares or the typical, “I don’t know.”‘ The reports found that the unemployment rate for recent graduates is highest in architecture (13.9 percent) because of the collapse of the construction and home-building…
