Amplify'd from newsfeed.time.com
Sloan Churman, 29, was born deaf and had never heard the sound of her own voice—until last week.
Eight weeks ago, Churman underwent surgery for a hearing implant called The Esteem Implant by Envoy Medical. Though she'd been wearing hearing aids since the age of 2, she says they “only help so much.” She had her husband record the activation of the implant.
We dare you not to break out into tears with her.
Churmman uploaded the video on YouTube and responded to touched commenters, “Thanks guys! I kind of wish my hubby would have recorded a little longer but he was crying and wanting to bounce around the room : )”

posted by: Claudine Dombrowski Amplify'd from www.nowpublic.com The last time I did court watch for protective mother CLAUDINE DOMBROWSKI, I called my subsequent posting on the experience "Showdown in Shawnee County." See the post here: I can't even call the hearing held on October 19, 2010 a showdown. It was just a sham. Let's do a little review. Claudine is a battered mother who lost custody of her only daughter in an ex parte hearing in 2004. (Ex parte means the mother wasn't even represented at the hearing.) Since then, she has had very little visitation. The hearing in January 2010 (see post above) was supposed to fix that. And finally, Claudine was awarded two hours of unsupervised visitation on Sunday and telephone contact twice a week. We figured it was a start. Well, this was not to be. And not because of anything Claudine did. As Claudine testified, visitation went well. She taught her now...

If you need new hearing aids to hold a job, the vocational rehabilitation department for your state is a good place to start. There are also several sources that will donate used hearing aids to individuals (such as the Starkey Foundation)

A very beneficial, but challenging, thing that you should do, if you suffer from hearing loss, is locate a hearing aid to improve your ability to hear. The severity of your hearing loss, what you can afford and what style of hearing aid you prefer all have to be considered when making your decision. Let's look at some of the major types of hearing aids that can be found today so you can more easily find the kind that's best for you.

Hey Lucia, that is a big decision and one my wife and I didn't take lightly either when making a decision as to what to do for our son who needed hearings aids. We found these two sites in our search and they were very helpful and informative. I will add the links below and I hope they help you as well.

Hearing aids are "self contained" and can be used anywhere. FM listening headsets are used only in auditoriums and churches where there is a transmitter set up to rebroadcast the sound coming out of the PA system. The FM listening device (receiver) then picks up the broadcast.

I have noticed that most people take their hearing aids out when using the assisted listening headsets.

To make a long answer short, yes you still will need your hearing aid, but you may choose to take it out when using the FM listening device.

I'd try a steamy hot shower and a good dose of some type sinus medication. My kid went to the doctor yesterday with very similar symptoms and that's what they diagnosed for her. The pollen count is so high (here anyway) that people not normally bothered are having major problems with it. Good luck.

* the drainage backs up and fills your sinus cavities badly when you sleep which can cause major ear pain.

Most people haven't got the slightest idea how they hear or why they have a hearing loss. Self-diagnosis of requiring hearing aids or helpful neighbors doing more harm is rampant. The more this type of information gets out the better.

scent of women: Women! What can you say? Who made 'em? God must have been a fuckin' genius. The hair... They say the hair is everything, you know. Have you ever buried your nose in a mountain of curls... just wanted to go to sleep forever? Or lips... and when they touched, yours were like... that first swallow of wine... after you just crossed the desert. Tits. Hoo-ah! Big ones, little ones, nipples staring right out at ya, like secret searchlights. Mmm. Legs. I don't care if they're Greek columns... or secondhand Steinways. What's between 'em... passport to heaven. I need a drink. Yes, Mr Sims, there's only two syllables in this whole wide world worth hearing: pussy. Hah! Are you listenin' to me, son? I'm givin' ya pearls here

This is a video that I directed, shot and edited for YouTube Play, a collaboration between YouTube and the Guggenheim Museum to unearth and showcase the very best creative videos from around the world. My intention with this video is to discuss how privacy is being redefined using the following 3 aspects of private self: watching others/sharing our physical self through video, written thoughts on personal profiles, private conversations in public spaces. I’m really interested in hearing your thoughts!

It could be many of several things. The preliminary hearing is just to determine whether the judge agrees that there is sufficient evidence to take the case to trial. Prior to the actually trial, there will likely be hearings on several pre-trial motions.

The lawyer will likely file a motion to dismiss, and I am guessing that is what the next hearing will address. The lawyer will probably also file motions to exclude evidence or testimony. He may file a motion to change venue to a more amiable jurisdiction. There are many pre-trial motions that a lawyer can file. Most of these will result in hearings. Some of the motions may be granted, and some may be denied.
