I'm sorry to hear abt ur hearing loss. It's a sweet gift that we all take granted for. Don't be shy to ask people to repeat. U may want to learn a little sign language and lip reading. Have u talked to the doctors about any medical hearing aids u could use? If those hearing aids can't help u and it's more of a nerve damage then I suggest looking into having a cochlea implant. However I don't think any doctor will recommend it to u unless, I don't mean to upset u, u r virtually deaf. Then u may consider a cochlea implant which really is a medical wonder and the procedure is very easy and safe. However u should try taking care of ears as much as u can, avoiding loud decibels, wax in the ears, etc. Perhaps the damage could get better…but I don't want to give u false hope. I hope this helps. In older people who lose their hearing they do lose some quality of life because people stop talking to them on the same level—it's more superficial because it's harder for people with normal hearing to keep repeating themselves, so they cut things short. Hearing aids don't help with all types of hearing lose, so senior citizens with bad hearing get less and less quality time with others and to enjoy things like watching TV, music, movies, etc.
I don't know if I'd say there is a correlation between this and low self-esteem, though. I think the correlation would more likely be between hearing loss and depression.

You are on solid grounds, unless it was a porn industry that you were working for. You were subject to hostile working conditions. Under those circumstances even if you were to quit, you would still have had a good chance in securing unemployment benefits (constructive discharge). Jot down the specific instances of the porn/fighting etc., and that the boss knew about it. Also tell them that you were retaliated against for reporting the incident.
I think your boss is not so much concerned about the unemployment; as he is about a potential law suit by you involving hostile working conditions/sexual harassment. You need to contact the EEOC office where you reside, I think you may have a good case against them for retaliation as well.

Viewing speech from the perspective of consonant and vowel is not very useful as the majority of the languages in the world are not based on this. The more accurate modeling of human voice is LPC (Linear Predictive Coding). From wikipedia

The latest technology in hearing aids is digital processing. Improving speech intelligibility is just one domain. This is called "Digital Speech Enhancement (DSE). DSE in hearing aids is still relatively new, and its effectiveness is largely unknown".
Other digital technology to improve hearing aids are:
1. enhanced gain control, either automatic or intelligent
2. feedback reduction
3. noise reduction
4. synthetic directional microphone
5. custom shaping of emphasis filters

There is a big difference. I can explain it to you. Heres some general info that goes with it.

Demons are evil, deceptive, and destructive. According to 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, demons masquerade as “angels of light” and as “servants of righteousness.” Appearing as a “ghost” and impersonating and talking as a deceased human being definitely is a disguise that demons use and do other things like messing with your mind, rapid cycling, instant crying- even when they are not visible and abuse brings them as well as other things.
Hearing voices/Mood swings – Common words heard– Lets kill him/her/rape. So you have more than one entity speaking. Happy then crying? this is the classic demonic example.

A relationship with childhood obesity is probably more direct or maybe noise is causing young people to eat more. I am always amazed at how these relationships are reported with no scientific data to support it. Trying to scare young people only makes problems worse. It also cannot be shown that educating them works either.

If her income is very low she could qualify for the Starkey Hear Now program. They charge an application fee of just $100 per ear. The hearing aid, testing and fitting are all free after that. Hi Sara!
Protect your hearing at all cost. Like all things, you don't know what it's worth until it's gone.
If you are not sure, or comfortable, with your Doctor's initial diagnosis, seek another opinion.
Also, do you feel that the level of hearing loss you have is effecting your life in any way? Does it effect your ability to go about your life normally?
As to what can be done, that depends very much on what has/is causing the hearing loss.
I can say with intimate knowledge, once your hearing has gone, there is very little that can be done to return it to "normal".
I lost my hearing extremely suddenly and unexpectedly after getting a cold. The infection was that devastating, it just about completely destroyed the delicate hair folicles in my cochlear. I was given rapid steroid treatment, to try to stimulate some healing and growth, with very limited results.
I was fitted with 2 hearing aids, which gave me little benefit. I have since received a cochlear implant, and responding very well to my new way of hearing. All this has happened in the past 18 months.
But…it is not as good as natural hearing.
Most adults, in Australia it is about 1 in 6, have some level of hearing loss, and most know nothing about it.
My advise to you is simple.
If you aren't happy or sure, ask another professional, and keep asking until you understand, and accept, the diagnosis.
Protect and treasure what you have, and be aware of any change, no matter how small. If anything does change, see a specialist. Quick treatment can mean the world of difference.
Please value the fact that you CAN still hear, there are so many others out there who cannot.
