Proud to be deaf: A couple takes on life’s challenges, including raising their hearing son

Proud to be deaf: A couple takes on life’s challenges, including raising their hearing son
A.J. Drawbaugh babbled happily as he toddled around his parents’ Mechanicsburg kitchen on a recent Friday. “Hi,” the 1-year-old said multiple times, waving and smiling.

    The answer is so simple!

you don't need to meet anyone else's expectations but your own.
you don't need to prepare for happiness.
all you have to do is be happy.

you are in control of your thoughts and your emotions.
if you aren't in control, who is? Is someone else controlling what you think and feel? No.
    You are in control.
There has to be something other than getting messed up that makes you happy.

to feel better, all you have to do is do it.

no do your best, no try your hardest, just do it.

He is telling a lot of people something new. I seriously doubt that the Feds are trying to the right thing. But that doesn’t mean that all of the economist’s working at and around the Fed have bad intentions. Bernanke I am sure can go on all day with loads and loads of bs. It would never lead anywhere to argue with him. Or do you think arguing with him will change his mind.

I'm sure the rule is the same in the USA, but in Canada I know for 100% certain that the commercial pilot medical includes an audiogram test every 2 years.
My private medical didn't have that, but there was some minimal level of hearing check. Profoundly deaf I don't think would get approved.

I agree with the cochlear implant guy. If it can get you through the audiogram. I would check with a flight medical doctor to see what the pass/fail criteria are because I would expect the implant might be limiting in some specific frequencies.

Start your research with Wikipedia (though I strongly recommend you don't use it as your only source, just the starting point to gather references to books or knowledge bases).

You could argue that the start of European dislike (and need to control) of Africa started with the rivalry between Rome and Carthage (as epitomized by Hannibal's campaign through Rome). Hannibal was a war leader and not a major contributor to world history (with the exception that he nearly conquered Rome). He was mainly know for his brutality (both to his enemies and to deserters in his own army). Unfortunately most of the historical accounts about Hannibal and the Carthaginians comes from Roman historians (usually writing upwards of 100 years after the fall of Carthage), and as such you should take it with a grain of salt. Facts are that Hannibal invaded Italy, and pushed farther into Roman territory then any previous military leader (a feat that won't be repeated till Caesar crosses the Rubicon). He was stopped at Rome and held off for several years before being recalled to Carthage to help defend the city. He loses the battle of Carthage and goes into exile for the rest of his life.

Its not necessary to hear to be housetrained. She has eyesight, the sense of touch and a sense of smell, which is enough.

Just do the same thing you would do with any dog….feed her on a schedule, take her out every couple of hours, right after eating, right before bed, first thing in the morning, and crate her when you cannot watch her.

If she goes in the house, take her AND the mess outside, and leave it there, and clean up with an enzyme cleaner so there is no remaining smell in the house.

The only difference with a deaf dog is that you cant call her to get her attention. We used to wave at our deaf dog instead of calling him, and a firm touch is a correction regardless of whether you say anything or not.
