Biomedical laboratory research is a subcategory of medical research. Medical research encompasses all types of research involving medical issues, including field work, clinical settings, survey analysis, statistical study of computerized medical databases, development of optimal treatment protocols, and many other research areas.

Biomedical laboratory research is a domain of medical research wherein the preponderance of work is performed in a laboratory setting. Nevertheless, it is a very broad field, which includes endocrinology, rheumatology, genetics, immunology, pharmacology, and many subspecialties of medicine. A Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Technologist can readily find careers in biomedical laboratory research, especially if they have a major or advanced degree in biology, chemistry, or biophysics. Masters degrees, PhDs, or an M.D. in any field of medicine, biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or psychology should provide many opportunities in medical research, as well as biomedical laboratory research.

The Salt Lake Tribune has a post that uses the Sunlight Foundation’s Party Time site to examine a fundraiser with Senators Bennett and Hatch:

Sens. Bob Bennett and Orrin Hatch threw Hoeven — who is running for the Senate — a golf fundraiser ($1,000 a person), followed by a reception fundraiser ($500 a person) Saturday, according to an invite posted by the Sunlight Foundation’s Party Time blog.

Sunlight notes that Bennett and Hoeven share the same fundraising consultants, the Bellwether Group, and adds that the evening reception is being held at the vacation home of Jeff Kimbell, a prominent health care lobbyist and a member of President George W. Bush’s transition team for the Department of Health and Human Services.

“First there was the discovery of dozens of bottles of 200-year-old champagne, but now salvage divers have recovered what they believe to be the world’s oldest beer, taking advertisers’ notion of ‘drinkability’ to another level.

Though the effort to lift the reserve of champagne had just ended, researchers uncovered a small collection of bottled beer on Wednesday from the same shipwreck south of the autonomous Aland Islands in the Baltic Sea.

“At the moment, we believe that these are by far the world’s oldest bottles of beer,” Rainer Juslin, permanent secretary of the island’s ministry of education, science and culture, told CNN on Friday via telephone from Mariehamn, the capital of the Aland Islands.”

  27. hoff Says:

In the English civil wars of the 1600s, Catholics (picture Captain Morgan or Marie Antoinette–swanky wigs, long curls) fought Protestants (basically Pilgrims, with conservative short haircuts, so they got called Roundheads). The Protestants won Round 1 and ruled for about a decade, hating the Pope (who deserved it; think Machiavelli and Medici) and acting like the fun police. The monarchy was restored in Round 2 and everyone went wild; Restoration-period drama is notoriously raunchy.

  29. die Says:

Security cameras will record what happens there so you will have some evidence. That is good. You can get some devices that will scare people off as well. Make sure you put up some stickers on your front store door saying that the place is monitored by security cameras. Can you place any of the ones you got in really obvious places so that people see they are being recorded? Sometimes when I go into a store, they have the feed from one of their cameras on a TV where all the patrons can see it. That way, it conveys that you are watching what is going on there.

Secure the perimeter of your property. If there is a back to your store, consider putting in some sort of motion alarm if you don't think that people would be back there much. You would want to look for something called a driveway motion alarm.

You can buy those alarms at Amazon. Keep your store well lit and don't be afraid to call the cops if you need them. See if they can come by a bit more frequently. Maybe put up a sign too that your employees don't have access to the safe. That may deter someone from trying to rob the store.

posted by: ChatHouse Cares Amplify’d from http://www.bostonherald.com By Joe DwinellTuesday, February 15, 2011 A Brockton mom and her 2-year-old boy found dead in a Dumpster behind their apartment house were murdered by “blunt force trauma to the brain and head,” authorities said today. Maria Avelina Palaguachi-Cela, 25, and her son Brian Palaguachi both died in the same way, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced today. “The medical examiner has determined that the cause of … death was blunt for trauma to the brain and head and the manner of death (for the mom and boy) was homicide,” Cruz said of both victims in a statement. The bodies of the young Ecuadorean woman and her toddler son were found stuffed in a Dumpster behind their downtown apartment house, and authorities said yesterday the mother and child may have been there for days. “We do not believe this is a random act,” Cruz said yesterday. Cruz refused to comment on whether a duffel bag was involved or how the…
