However they do make listening devices like a spy might use. It looks a little like a small satellite disk and a set of headphones. See link for example.

Well, personally, I have experienced a bit of hearing loss after listening to loud stuff…well, kind of experienced.

In the past…well, not that far back, about half a year ago, I used to watch television and blast the volume(Nah, I didn't disturb the neighbors). Though it is kinda nice to do so as you block out all surrounding noise, I realised that when speaking to my friends, I could not hear them as clearly as I used to and they begun to make jokes such as "Hey dude, you gotta get a hearing aid!"

Anyway, I do think that you'll suffer from significant hearing loss if you listen to you iPod at too loud volumes but I doubt if it would result in permanent hearing loss. You might experience a kind of high pitched ringing noise after listening to extremely loud music and depending on the loudness and how long you've been listening to, the time that your hearing will return differs.

Thanks, I have been experiencing some of this in the last year and am about to see a doctor…its a hard thought to be 30 and losing my hearing, but even though its still relatively minor its time to figure out why my right ear feels stuffed up occassionally and hearing becomes more dull. This video helps me to understand that I am really facing what I am facing and there is no denying it. Its time to figure out what I am going to have to cope with and how.

Yep! Quite a mouthful but let it sink in. The self proclaimed economic elite make rules and mistake that affect all of us, there only accountability is a quick senate hearing where they are interrogated for show and afterwards have champagne and cocktails in chambers and laugh off the comments of the day and plan their future hunting events in the Congo. I don’t find it comical that our domestic economy and power position is rapidly being exchanged for that of the third world or some obscure island nation whose major export is sand and debt.

Around $1,000.00 up. they aren't cheap, the smaller you go the more they cost.

And for all of you who listen to boom boxes, you are in for a treat around 40!
I have been totally deaf in my left ear since I was a kid. Its the inner ear so a hearing aid would not even do any good.

Afraid not. The Army has limits on vision and hearing disabilities.
If you need a hearing aid to hear normal speech you probably wouldn't qualify for any Armed Service.
