GSM system LEGALLY hacked by security researchers Nick DePetrillo & Don Bailey
Step 1 – The GSM Caller ID system has an API so that it works globally between all network providers. And it maps phone number to account name. Thus it’s possible to walk the entire tree of cellular phone numbers and build a database of every phone number’s owner.
Step 2 – For call routing, the global phone system must be able to FIND anyone’s current location so that calls can be forwarded to the proper network. So it’s possible to determine where anyone is currently located.
Step 3 – Cellular Voicemail can be tricked by sending two calls right after one another and immediately disconnecting the first one. This lets the second one go directly to voicemail without causing the phone to ring. T-Mobile’s voicemail system (for example) is vulnerable to “voicemail spoofing”, allowing anyone to listen to all stored messages and get the phone numbers of those callers.

Iron Tumbleweed A dog-powered car, a plastic bike sail, and a merry-go-round rowing machine are just a few of the quirkier inventions documented in PopSci’s archives Every June, we announce PopSci’s chosen Inventions of the Year, our favorites among the brainchildren of garage tinkerers. Who knew that you could make a fish-friendly tidal turbine or a hearing aid that uses bones to conduct sound? At PopSci, we’re eager to recognize the potential in these inventions, but only time will tell which ones will become ubiquitous and which ones will be forgotten. For every television, radio, and Post-It Note, there’ve been half a dozen whosits and whatsits that faded into obscurity. Of course, thanks to our 138-year online archive, no invention that ever graced our magazine’s pages has ever really been forgotten. For every sports car and newfangled smartphone we’ve covered, there’s been a dog-powered car, a self-administering gas dispenser, and a 10-foot submarine. Hell, many of them could…

You can deduct a hearing aid as a medical expense. However, medical deductions are limited to anything above 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. For example, say your AGI was $10,000. The hearing aid and other medical expenses would have to exceed $750. Then you would only get a deduction for the amount over. Say the hearing aid and other medical expense were $1,000. Your deduction would be $250. Also, you would need additional itemized dedcution(mortgage interest, charitable contributions, etc.) in exccess of the standard deduction to make it worth it.

The key is to see an audiologist. An audiologist has to have a minimum of a masters degree soon to be a doctorate degree to practice. They have extensive training on everything related to the ear as well as hearing aids and assistive devices. They are knowledgeable professionals who are not out there simply to make money selling hearing aids. They want to be sure that everyone has proper care for their hearing needs.

Absolutely the best, if you are evaluated as an appropriate subject, is the cochlear implant. You need to read up on it, and it is a surgical implant, but it is what they use nowadays for even little children with profound hearing loss.

You shouldn't have a problem passing the test.
Even if you were completely deaf in one ear, you could pass.
If you can hear the doctor speaking to you at 6 feet, with your back turned, using BOTH ears, you will pass.
This is the primary test for the FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate. (and 2&3 as well)
If you fail the test, you can elect to have an audiometric test done.
Here are the actual requirements:
"Demonstrate hearing of an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using both ears at 6 feet, with the back turned to the examiner OR pass one of the audiometric tests below :
Audiometric speech discrimination test: (Score at least 70% discrimination in one ear) or:
Pure tone audiometric test: Unaided, with thresholds no worse than:
500Hz 1,000Hz 2,000Hz 3,000Hz
Better Ear 35Db 30Db 30Db 40Db
Worst Ear 35Db 50Db 50Db 60Db"

Sensory Organ Replacement and Repair
Publisher: Morgan and Claypool Publishers | ISBN: 1598290622 | edition 2006 | PDF | 65 pages | 12,1 mb
The senses of human hearing and sight are often taken for granted by many individuals until they are lost or adversely affected. Millions of individuals suffer from partial or total hearing loss and millions of others have impaired vision. The technologies associated with augmenting these two human senses range from simple hearing aids to complex cochlear implants, and from (now commonplace) intraocular lenses to complex artificial corneas. The areas of human hearing and human sight will be described in detail with the associated array of technologies also described.

The White House has been lying about Iraq for some time. During the Iran Iraq war of 8 years the US had sold chemical and biological weapons to Iraq 1985-1989 under Reagan/Bush. May, 1986. The US Department of Commerce licenses 70 biological exports to Iraq between May of 1985 and 1989, including at least 21 batches of lethal strains of anthrax. They also sold arms to Iran-the Iran Contra Affair which sold arms to Iran for the return of 6 American hostages by Hezbollah.

Hi DeafBoo, in response to your comment Kellie has a severe hearing loss and therefore requires a super powered aid. These are actually available from the NHS and are a lot smaller than the old analogues. There is a huge range of products available in different shapes and sizes but it does depend on the hearing loss with a super powered aid such as Kellie’s it requires larger battery power, hence its slightly larger size than the ones you wear.

Categorized in Health Issues,
While many people tend to select their hearing aids based on lifestyle and aesthetic preferences, the kind of hearing aid that will work best is determined by your level of hearing loss. Let’s take a look at the three main types that are available – completely in the canal (or CIC), in the canal (or ITC), and behind the ear (or BTE).
