A new study by the Sentencing Project shows that some 800,000 people with felony convictions have been given the right to vote over the past decade, thanks to reforms to laws governing eligibility in 23 states. But at least 5.3 million felons of voting age remain disenfranchised.

    It might.

You will be asked if you have ever been convicted of a felony on you applications, but you will also get a box to explain. Your grades and SAT score reflect a good student so your chances will probably be good.

I wouldn't worry too much, apply to a variety of schools and if there are a few you really want call and ask the admissions department. You don't have to give them any identifying information, just ask how their committee might perceive your record.

Also are you sure that it was a felony conviction? Usually minors who shoplift are charge with petty theft which is only a misdemeanor. In this case you wouldn't have to report it and it would affect your applications at all. So you may want to check to be sure.

    Good luck.

As I am reading this, you were either convicted of a felony or pled out to a felony charge and are now on probation.

Once your probation is over, you are free and clear, but the conviction will remain as part of your record unchanged.

Your only other option would be to see if you can apply to have the record expunged once the time elements have been met. You would need to consult your attorney to determine this.

Best of luck and I hope this can be useful to you

While the news may shock many civilians, the custom is so well known among officers that it has a name: “flaking.” This practice has reportedly cost the city $1.2 million to settle cases of false arrests. “The corruption I observed … was something I was seeing a lot of, whether it was from supervisors or undercovers and even investigators,” said Anderson. And if anyone is an expert on planting drugs, it’s Anderson. This is a man who was busted back in 2008 for planting cocaine on four men in a Queens bar. “It’s almost like…
