NOTE: I am on my 3rd iCom – first two replaced by Phonak with broken wire (that goes around neck). It weakens slowly from movement. Also, since upgrade to iOS 4, it crackles badly and is unusable with my iPhone. Since it worked before upgrade with iPhone, and also with Palm Centro and HTC G1 (original Android phone) this probably isn’t Phonak’s fault. Still a useful device, but it EATS batteries! Also, several people have told me my on-call clarity is poor, but the device *is* about at my sternum, far away from my mouth, so if you use it in loud places it’s not going to work at well. You kind of have to pick your spots, but I still think it’s worth it if you really need it. If you can, try one for a week before you buy it. — In response to a private message question “18 months after creating the video are you STILL happy with the iCom” I replied in part: “I’d say that I’m *somewhat* happy with it. I’ve had two break on me (the wire that goes around the neck) and though I’ve gotten two replacements no charge, it’s a bit much to take. Also, battery life is very poor while it is in use. Since I upgraded to iOS4 on my iPhone I have been unable to use it well. It’s certain nice at times — beats headphones a lot of the time, but it’s also proving to be less-than-rugged and in a noisy environment, you can’t hear well. Even in a car it is often too quiet to hear anything but music, and even then it is somewhat drowned out. For my car, I actually bought a new stereo system so I

Of course, you should do a complete investigation on phonak hearing aids. Ultimately, maKe sure you completely understand phonak hearing aids. To understand better you can search the web for phonak hearing aids.Phonak hearing aids are gaining in popularity with many people because they effectively help make listening much easier for anyone that suffers many types of hearing problems. These hearing devices have many different options available for anyone that wants to use them to hear life around you again.

Some of the different options that are available include:

- Sound recover: This remarkable breakthrough allows people with significant high-frequency hearing loss to hear speech sounds that they haven’t heard in a long time.

- Echo Block: Allows people to hear more clearly in a reverberant (echo-y) environment. This is the only time-altering algorithm (plan of operation) in the hearing aid industry.

-Automatic Program Switching (“autopilot”): Adjusts the volume, level of sound reduction and directionality automatically, within milliseconds.

There are two different styles of hearing aids that you can also find different options for. The two styles are:

- BTE: This style stands for “behind the ear” and is good for anyone with mild to severe hearing issues. BTEs may be tiny or standard sized.

- ITE: This stands for “in the ear” hearing device, and was developed in the 1980s. People sometimes choose this type for cosmetic reasons.

The different features present in Phonak hearing aids and the different styles are really important to consider when choosing hearing devices because they allow almost anyone with a hearing loss to have significant increase in the quality of their life.

You should go to an audiologist to help you determine exactly what degree of hearing loss you have so you can make the smartest choice possible.

Audiologists can provide you with important information that could aid your decision on what type of hearing aid to get from Phonak.

I can’t stress enough that an educated patient is the best patient—you should not choose any type of hearing aid without first getting a hearing test done and doing your homework about what is available. Hearing aids are major purchases and a good audiologist can help you become better informed so that you will be able to find the right type for you for the best price possible to fit your budget.
