Check with your local Lions Club. They have a program for low cost hearing aids for those in need, and have been super nice to me. I have the same problems, but my audiologists said that my hearing loss could not be helped with hearing aids.

I’m doing a science fair project on how listening to music loudly can effect tennagers hearing. The participants will be aged 12-20. Could you recomend any sites, or ideas that could help with research and testing? It would be greatly appreciated.

i got my first hearing aid wen i was 4 then eventually got 2 in short time, i hated them as i grew up i always wanted the plain beige colours not sure whyy probs cos they wudnt stand out now if i wear them id feel like a loser i jus dont hav the confidencee to wear them x

Absolutely the best, if you are evaluated as an appropriate subject, is the cochlear implant. You need to read up on it, and it is a surgical implant, but it is what they use nowadays for even little children with profound hearing loss.

I'm not a girl. But as a guy, I would encourage you not to think of people (girls included) judging you on the basis of your disability. I know of a blind guy who won over a beautiful girl, who he is now married to! I believe that it is your personality; not your disabilities that counts.

Knowing how to play the piano is a great skill, although learning it can be alot ore tricky than it looks. There are numerous sites online which you can have lessons from. The one below has some nice videos and is incredibly simple and should get you learning the basics within a few days…of course it depends on how quick you learn

Hate to break it to you, but hearing is fundamental in nursing.
You need to be able to use a stethoscope with accuracy, and sometimes there is background noise which can make it difficult even for 100% hearing. You need to be able to hear when people call out for you as they don't always use a call bell. You need to hear unusual sounds or faint alarms that might be pointing to something much bigger.
I think you might be able to work in an area of nursing like research or administration, but I'm not sure you'd be able to make it through nursing school with a hearing loss.
The best thing to do is contact the nursing schools directly to see.

This will depend on your life style. Perfect hearing is -10 to 10, Normal hearing is 0 to -10 and Average is -10 to -20 dBs. Some people that are involved in Music will want a hearing aid if they are at -20 because they will be needing to hear some frequiencies more clearly.
GENERALY speaking, if you are at -30 and below in frequencies 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1200, 2000 —- You will want a digital hearing aid.
There is an American Guy in South America that I bought My Aids from. He works in Peru helping the Poor and the 3rd world people hear. He has a company called AccuToneUSA and he told me to send my Ear Impressions to Him. He build me 2 VERY nice 32 channel 64 band hearing aids for about $1200 total. When it's due to accident it's not possible to restore (husband had same thing) so all you can do is amplify to whatever degree possible. Your hearing will still be distorted because of the damage. You might be expecting too much of a restoration to your hearing. If you have hearing aids then you have already been tested.
