Depending how bad it is you may not get a waiver at all. I would call a recruiter and see what they think.
Current hearing threshold level in either ear greater than that described below is disqualifying:
(1) Pure tone at 500, 1000, and 2000 cycles per second for each ear of not more than 30 decibels (dB) on the average, with no individual level greater than 35 dB at those frequencies.
(2) Pure tone level not more than 45 dB at 3000 cycles per second or 55 dB at 4000 cycles per second for each ear.
(3) There is no standard for 6000 cycles per second.
Current or history of hearing aid use (V53.2) is disqualifying.

What? Speak up I can't hear you.
I have some hearing loss. Mostly in right ear due to shooting a pistol without hearing protection(stupid of me).
Had my hearing checked and found out my loss was in certain ranges of tone.
I can hear higher and lower tones but have trouble with mid tones. Mostly people speaking especially when they speak softly.
Check with an audiologist about different types of hearing loss.

once the hair cells are damaged they are damaged. there is no magical-medicinal cure for a sensory/ neural hearing loss.
buck up and get your self some hearing aids. if you have a high frequency loss. make sure they have directional microphones and at the very least 8 channels so the audiologist has greater programming ease.

As a clarinet player myself, to play it successfully one has to hear the tone well. Clarinets are very finicky and the slightest change can throw off your tone and you need to be able to hear it. Sometimes – depending on how much brass there is in the band – it can drown out clarinets – so she'll have trouble hearing herself play, I bet.

I've worn hearing aids for more than 10 years now. For the longest time I wore in the ear hearing aids and during that time I always thought they could fit a little better. Several months ago, I changed to the Audeo hearing aids (they are expensive, I won't lie) that lie behind the ear. It was a huge change for me at first, b/c you have a little wire that goes into your ear (for the speaker of course), but you get used to it over time. I think behind the ear hearing aids can actually help you hear better since you have more open space in your ear. The in the ear aids kind of jam the sound a little more. I would definitely look into behind the ear hearing aids.

Contact your closest VA medical center and ask for compensation and pension. They will guide you in filing your claim and or setting you up with a social worker to help. Once you've filled out the claim, then they will bring you in for screening of the claim. There, as you have repeatedly heard in the news, that there is a backlog in claims. Mine did take a while to get. Don't forget you are eligible to receive hearing aides from the VA (I have an exceptional pair) and that you are also eligible to apply for a VA loan, they guarantee the loan so you would be more protected in the occurrence of near foreclosure as your current situation. There are many resources that can help with the PTSD, I see a provider outside of the VA system. Based on your hearing loss and PTSD I would get screened for a traumatic brain injury as well, if you've been exposed to close range IED blasts, is that where your hearing loss came from? There is also a program through the VA called * VA vocational rehabilitation program* Check it out for finding skills and jobs that suit your abilities best and they also can pay for training/school to get you to that job.
