They can come in lots of colors, can be very small so that they cannot be seen or can even be behind the ear so no one else can see them. It just depends on what will work best for you. Where I am a preliminary hearing is only to establish probable cause. More than likely your son will have to testify. The prosecutor will ask questions and then the defense will ask questions. From what I have seen most preliminary hearings are done (because they are required by statute) and the defense tries to turn it into a Discovery matter.
Meaning the defense will try and find out what your son’s story is. If that story changes between the prelim and the trial it would undermine the credibility of the witness.
The prosecutor’s office will probably have some there before court to talk to you all. If not, so long as his story remains the same nothing to worry about.
I have heard prosecutors tell witnesses to answer in one word answers, Short, short, short answers. This is not a trial for the Beyond a Reasonable Doubt stuff. This is only probable cause (about 85%) that the person charged did the crime. Most I have seen get Certified to circuit court almost always.
Yes, if it is certified to circuit court then he will testify there, that will be the trial. Most are plea bargained away early on so there won’t be a trial. More than likely the defendant has a record and his attorney is just testing the waters at the prelim to see about his bargaining power for the plea.

Exactly as Daryl says. In Islam its actually considered sinful not to seek medical help, because if the cure is there, one should take full advantage of it. I know of a retired former leader, that actually has a pig valve in his heart, otherwise he would of died, when he asked for advice, he was told to have the op if it meant he lived! And so he did.

Possibly, but it would have to be an extreme fall. Severe head trauma can cause rupturing of the cochlea, which would cause irreparable damage. It could also damage the 8th cranial nerve, which would cause a permanent damage as well. This kind of injury would have to come from something like falling down several flights of stairs.
Most hearing loss cannot be explained. The most likely cause is genetics–something that cannot specifically be pinpointed and may not be present in any other family member–it's just a game of gene matchup.
No matter what the cause, though, there are definitely many rehab options. See an audiologist to talk about hearing aids if you haven't already done so. And of course, if you're unsatisfied with the results you get from one AuD, you should definitely go get a second opinion. Good luck.

I first had an analog hearing aid some years ago and found that strange. The reason is that the higher frequency sounds are the first to disappear, when you wear the aid it amplifies these and it does sound strange. When I was upgraded to a digital the same thing occur ed. Tell her not to worry, it is just the brain noticing a distinct difference in the sounds it is receiving. What happens quite quickly is the brain becomes used to the sound it now hears and accepts that as normal. I probably got used to it in two or three weeks. It's well worth the adjustment period just to hear conversation clearly without constantly saying pardon. It's all part of the joy of getting old, in the morning first you feel around for the glasses then you can see the hearing aid, all I need now is a wooden leg and a parrot on my shoulder.

You might have to simply prevent him from getting to it in the first place. I've known people who have turned around onesies (they do make larger sizes), turning around zip pajamas and running duct tape up the zipper so he can't unzip it.
You may need to shorten nap time and wake him up so he doesn't have time to get into it. Or put a very sensitive monitor in his room and go in as soon as he wakes up.

vision loss is so common with ageing. people can be born with both vision and hearing misfunction but vision is usually picked up earlier in children.
Hearing loss through occupational damage is now well addressed and a company that did things that caused it would be in serious trouble. However age related hearing is just a fact of life.Hearing aids are usually a lot more obvious than contact lenses.

A recent study investigated whether zinc supplementation can enhance recovery from idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss, also known as SSNHL. Close to 70 SSNHL patients were divided into two groups. Half were given corticosteroid treatment and half were given oral zinc gluconate plus corticosteroid treatment.
Hearing gain and percentage of recovery were analyzed and compared between the two groups. The zinc group experienced a significantly larger hearing gain, an increased percentage of recovery, and an increased rate of successful recovery.
According to the study, as reprinted on the website Green Med Info:
“Zinc supplementation may enhance the hearing recovery of SSNHL patients. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects may help reduce the oxidative stress of the cochlea in SSNHL, implying a new direction in the treatment of this disease.”
