Kind of ironic that the host talks at the same time as Chrissy Pease. One of the most annoying things about hearing aids, is that they’re not very good at differentiating between different sources of sound. Not knowing what brand of hearing aid you have, I'd have to say that the AHS# number is the serial number. Hearing aids aren't all that big, so there isn't much in the way of space for much more info, and the serial number wouldn't be on the inside of the unit. The only other place I'd look would be the inside of the battery door.

It depends on what type of ear infection this is.
If it is an external ear infection then there is no real worries.
If it is a middle ear infection then scarring of the ear drum can cause hearing loss.
An untreated infection can travel from the middle ear to the nearby parts of the head, including the brain.
It would be a good idea to go back to the doctor and get it cleared up.

once the hair cells are damaged they are damaged. there is no magical-medicinal cure for a sensory/ neural hearing loss.

buck up and get your self some hearing aids. if you have a high frequency loss. make sure they have directional microphones and at the very least 8 channels so the audiologist has greater programming ease.

Medical records and diagnosis along with treatment options are presented to the judge. Patient advocate gives opinion and judge makes decision. Judge usually agrees to sound medical procedure.

Since the state has removed the patient's ability to make choices, the judge must make them. it is a fairly pro forma process.

I really like my BAHA. I have been wearing it for about 6 years now. I think it is time to get my processor changed – the cost is about $3500. As for the surgery costs – I do not know as my universal health care pay for it. I had to pay for the hearing aid processor.

It happens either way.

Musicians frequently suffer either high-end or low-end frequency response degradation. For me (keyboard man), it was mid- to low-frequency loss. For our guitarist, high end losses.

Guys who work construction that involves jackhammers or demolition tend to suffer wider loss ranges than some folks because percussion from explosions and jackhammers tends to be frequency-rich. I.e. lots of frequencies at once. And very loud, too. So loss is wide-spread. Same for jet engine mechanics who don't protect their hearing. Auto mechanics tend to lose low-end and mid-low range.

Of course, if you have a disease, you could lose all frequencies at once.

Yes, it has been tested many times. Mice and other animals, and also some people volunteered for studies since they were already in a suspected bad environment. Many studies of hearing loss have been done. Extremely strong "YES" to the selectivity-of-effect question.

I have Tinnitus very bad and it gets worse over the years, I also have 70 decibel hearing loss. I am on my 2nd pair of hearing aids, these have double pick-ups, the first pair only had single pick-ups and were not strong enough for me. I hate them all, they sound artificial. if you turn them up much then sudden noises will make you jump out of your skin, like Shell-Shock, I feel for you, but I like the quiet better, its just that you miss out on a lot of things, and you will get to avoiding people, if you aren't already, cause you can't understand them.
