Williams Sound – Translation Equipment & Assistive Listening

[eba kw="assistive listening devices" num="1" ebcat=""]
Lately, people are searching the web for more information about assistive listening devices. Curiousity about assistive listening devices has spawned many new websites.

Of course, you should do a complete investigation on assistive listening devices. Finally, spend as much time as is reasonable fully understanding assistive listening devices. For more informationyou should do further research on assistive listening devices.Williams Sound is one of the largest manufacturers of translation and assistive listening technology worldwide. In fact, their motto is “Helping People Hear.” In what began as a simple AM listening system for churches, Williams Sound has since grown over the last 30 years to offer a range of listening products and audio equipment. MEETINGS AND CONVENTIONSOne of the most common uses of Williams Sound equipment is in the realm of simultaneousinterpreting (live translation). The speaker or presenter’s words are translated (“interpreted”is really the proper term), on the fly in real time by an interpreter, who is typically in a booth listening to the speaker via a Williams interpreter’s control unit. The interpreter translates into a microphone and the signal is then broadcast throughout the room or hall by a Williams transmitter that operates on a specialized frequency.  Attendees listen to the interpreted words via Williams translation headsets, i.e. earphones and radios. Translation receivers are often small FM radios which are tuned to a special frequency that does not interfere with regular FM-radio broadcasting. Most of the time, the accompanying headphones are generic and can be used with a multitude of devices. For high security meetings, Williams also manufactures infrared equipment. Because infrared devices transmit the signal via light beams which cannot penetrate walls, the translation can only be heard by people who are physically in the room.  Infrared is heavily used in government settings, especially intelligence groups. For those with hearing difficulties, Williams manufactures assistive listening products for both personal and group settings. Some of these settings include: hotels, conference centers, conventions, churches, classrooms, work, on the phone. Recent Government Accessibility Requirements (ADA) are in force and necessitate many companies and public venues to provide assistive listening equipment to those who need hearing enhancement.

Personal listening devices are completely portable and can be tucked into a pocket and taken wherever the listener wishes to go. Williams Sound sells its products only through authorized dealers. An excellent dealer with great prices is found here: Williams Sound Products

Chris Redish owns A Bridge Between Nations, a Conference Interpreting company which leases and sells Williams Sound equipment in Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Orlando, Miami, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Boston, New York, Chicago, Denver, Washington DC, Seattle, Portland, and all major U.S. cities. Start with a defect or handicap and make an adaption. Keep it simple.

What problems do you see in the course of a day? It has been my experience that people use immediate resources to solve immediate problems. I worked in a carpet warehouse where the workers made sheaths for their carpet knives out of scrap carpet and sewed up the seams with carpet binder tape. I went to a muffler shop and guys had made furniture and ashtrays out of muffler pipe and mufflers.

Make a list of shortcuts for handicap assists for the computer. Stuff like using the the <Ctrl+mouse wheel> to enlarge the display on the screen.

    Print & laminate.

The Dark Knight Rises audio The Dark Knight Rises prologue currently being shown off in selected IMAX cinemas has not just caused a storm with fans wanting to catch a glimpse of how director Christopher Nolan will end his Batman vision, but also with audio enthusiasts who have been questioning the sound mix of the footage. Those who have been lucky enough to see the prologue at the IMAX will agree that the six minute clip, which introduces the main antagonist Bane, is exhilarating stuff which leaves you wanting more. But when it comes to understanding just what Bane says, the response has been, well, a touch muted. Just last week, there was rumour that Nolan, known for having the utmost control over his movies, had tweaked the audio due to studio and public demand and that a new sound mix was playing in IMAX cinemas. A statement from IMAX, however, denied this is the case – despite many fans, according to Collider, who have seen the prologue a number of times insisting the footage was…

“One concern with digitization in markets for information goods is that unauthorized, digital copying will reduce the number and quality of original works supplied. Despite a substantial literature on the effects of piracy on demand for recorded music, information on the supply-effects of digital copying is limited. This paper presents empirical evidence that digital copying has not reduced the supply of new, copyrighted sound recordings in Germany. Even with a strong reduction in sales of sound recordings that coincided with the diffusion of digital copying technology, the annual number of new titles released to the market continued to expand. Results indicate that the number of new titles released has not deviated significantly from a long-term upward trend. The paper also presents evidence that the amount of time listening to sound recordings has not fallen over this period, suggesting no strong decline in the quality of new work.”
